(Adventure) M1: Goblin Ears and the MTG (dpdx judging) COMPLETED

"That's odd. Perhaps we ought to have a look around the inn, see what was up. Our last trace of Irene was this inn and no one seems very talkative at the moment. I wonder if there might be any trace of her elsewhere in here." Tenebrynn proposes.

The cleric thinks for a while. "We could try the door out to the privy. Perhaps the big-nosed man has a room here. But, we should tell Nurlan first."

Nurlan replies, "No, I'm not. I'm a musician, so I travel a lot. I also do a little security work -- I have a temporary job in this town as a security guard." He's thinking to himself, Don't press them. Tell them a little about myself and maybe they'll tell me a little more about themselves -- and then I can decide if they're worth asking more of, without appearing to be too inquisitive.

OOC: I notice Manzanita has been on LEW recently but hasn't yet posted a continuation of Nurlan's conversation. I don't know if that's because the folks Nurlan's talking to have stopped talking, or because you didn't have time for this one yet -- not trying to rush you if you're too busy, just want to make sure I'm not waiting for the update that isn't coming.

If the table has indeed fallen silent, Nurlan will finish his wine and then make eye contact with Tenebrynn and Charlarn, ready to reconnoitre if they seem to be.

If anybody at the table adds to his comment quoted above, he'll hope to discern from whatever they say how well they know the city. He'll then use that as lead-in to enquire about the security situation. "I've been here less than two days, and my friends and I have already been attacked twice. Once outside the gates, when we first got here, by some goblins -- that turned out fairly profitable for us, actually -- and the second time by some thugs in an alley this morning." He'll carefully refrain from letting on that he knows how pervasive the Guild is, waiting to see if his interlocutors have any further insights into either of the local public safety problems.

OOC: Sorry Orsal. Nurlan didn't ask a direct question, and the inspiration to continue the conversation didn't strike. Assume his comment was met with some vague interest, and Nurlan continued the conversation as you indicated.

"Gosh, sounds like you've had a bit of bad luck. Or perhaps...uh. Well, we try to avoid that sort of thing. Just make tools."

"And sell 'em."

It's starting to get late. It will be dark soon.

Charlarn says to Tenebrynn, "Should we go back to Kim's or go out the privy door? I can cause something to glow for a few minutes if we need the light."

OOC: Would we be able to find our way back to the warehouse in the dark, or are the streets lit?

Nurlan nods. "That's good to know. Hopefully the rest of my stay here will be more peaceful." As he finishes his drink, he looks up at Charlarn and Tenebrynn. "I see someone I know", he says as he stands up. "Have a good evening. Maybe I'll see you around later. And thanks for the recommendation -- I'll try the mushroom ale next time."

He then rejoins his friends and asks them, "Any news?"

At this point, the rat-faced man comes down the stairs. He smiles devilishly at Charlyn and keeps walking rapidly out the door to the street.

"What was that about?" Nurlan asks Charlarn, speaking quietly. "You seemed to have said something earlier that really freaked him out."

Charlarn's eyes follow the rat-faced man as he walks out the door. Nurlan's words snap him out of his reverie. "Hmm? Him? Yeah, I went over to him and the half-orc and just asked if they knew where Irene and Jezibel were. They got spooked and ran out the privy door. How they got upstairs is odd. I was asking Tenebrynn if we should go out back or go back to the warehouse. What do you want to do? The light is fading."

This city is fairly well lit and bustling after dark. Although your chances of getting lost or finding trouble after dark may be slightly greater than in the daylight, it is probably nothing to worry about.
