The stirges swoop down from the tree, swarming Jezebel and Draco. One manages to latch onto Jezebel through a gap in her plate mail, while another lances through Draco with its proboscis, causing the dragonling to vanish in a puff of smoke. Leaving their sibling to its meal of tiefling blood, the other two stirges zip toward the rest of the party. One attacks Ferris to no avail, but the other finds purchase on Bann-ur's shoulder and plunges its snout into the goliath's jugular vein.

Jezebel curses the stirge as it latches on to her. Fueled by a rage inherited from her fiendish ancestors, a cloud of flame briefly envelops the stirge as it begins its meal. She repeatedly tries to yank the roasted creature off her, but her metal gauntlets conspire to make that a losing endeavor.

In frustration, she actually taunts the overgrown insect. "FINE! Stay here! I'll rip those wings off one by one!"

Bann-ur winces at the sting of the creature siphoning off his blood. Then he wraps one of his huge hands around the whole creature and yanks it right out of his neck and throws it to the ground in front of him. "That it? Come and get some more, all of you!" the goliath shouts at the nearby stirges. Slamming at the creature with his maul, he makes it bleed with his first strike.

While one stirge remains firmly affixed to Jezebel, Bann-ur deftly plucks another one of the parasites off his shoulder, flings it to the ground, and squishes it flat with a single blow of his maul, sending a spray of stolen blood in all directions.

Frightened by the death of his sibling the other stirge nearest Bann-ur decides to try for an easier meal. It buzzes around Ferris' head for a moment, who swipes at it with his axe to no avail, then the stirge makes a beeline for Alnar, pricking him with its proboscis.

All this commotion seems however, to have aggravated some other denizens of the forest. It seems for one surreal moment that the bushes themselves are closing in on you. Taking a closer look, you realize to your dismay that this is exactly the case: two vicious-looking carnivorous vines streak out of the bushes on the western side of the small clearing. One moves toward Bann-ur, taking a swipe at the goliath and lightly grazing him. The other vine hooks Ferris with a long, cruel thorn, and begins to drag him back toward a small cluster of mangroves to devour him in private.
