[Adventure] Marna is Missing (DM: pacdidj, Judge: renau1g)

"All right, let's get going then. I will try to get this back door open. You should better find a means of distraction fast if the guard were to be suspicious. Wolf-man, big guy, follow me, I will have this lock open before you can say burglary."

Moving towards the door, Verloc found a set of picklocks from a hidden pocket. He took a quick look towards the others before he got down on his knees and started doing his old routine.
Garry watches Joox with interest as he opens the door with his nimble skills " Nice talent, and good thing too. Without your help, Bann-ur here would probably had have to break down the door... not so stealthy I might add "

"So that the guard does not see it Garry, try to keep your body between the light and that front window."
" Good idea Giant-man, I just hope that the others keep their end of the bargain and keep that guard busy ". The werewolf enters the building, doing exactly what Bann-ur suggested, moving so silently that even elves would have trouble hearing him, even if they were but a few feet away.

Move action: Moves to the door
Standard: Moves into the house as far as he can get, but ends his movement up against a wall. Stealth 25, got a critical!
Minor Action: Perception check: got 22, without penalties.

Jezebel also waits where she is. Over her shoulder, she says to Alnar "Let's wait here a moment. No need to make a ruckus yet."

[sblock=ooc]DM: I'm afraid I lost the overall perspective of the area. Which building is the trashcan against? I'm worried that the guard will be equally angry if he sees me digging through "government" trash.

Alnar: Sounds good. I think I'd prefer we only make noise if necessary (ie, someone inside fails a stealth check). Better if we're not seen at all unless we have to be.[/sblock]

In the Office

Verloc holds the door open as Garry slips, whisper quiet into the office. The werewolf keeps his "flashlight" angled away from the front window as he enters, and makes a quick, but thorough search of the chest nearest the door. Unfortunately he doesn't find either the seal, the forms, or the sealing wax in the chest.

Bann-ur meanwhile peers into the light cast by Garry's sunrod, but his eyes haven't adjusted to the brightness, and the Goliath cannot immediately tell whether there might be anything pertinent to the party's mission in the vicinity of the doorway.

On the Street

While Ferris and Alnar both stand waiting for Jezebel to make the first move, the tiefling notices out of the corner of her eye that the Customs guard has shifted his position to the other side of the front door to the office. He doesn't seem to have noticed the party at this point, but rather just to have paced around a bit, maybe out of boredom.

street map

[sblock=actions]Inside
Garry: Stealth check = success, move 6 squares to K5, Perception check to search the chest at L-M6 = success (a thorough search, but no items were present).

Bann-ur: move 2 squares to M9, Perception check to scan surroundings for anything useful = fail.

Joox/Verloc: You're up! (I moved you 1 square just to get you out of Bann-ur's way. He is a big guy after all. :p)

Outside
Ferris: delay, listening for failed stealth checks.

Alnar: delay, waiting on Jezebel

Jezebel: You're up!

Once we have actions for Verloc and Jezebel, we'll move on to round 10, and the rest of you can take your next turn.

Inside characters, if you wish to search a surface or container, please move your character next to the thing you want to search, specify which thing you're searching, then make your perception check. That way we can keep track of what has and hasn't been searched within the office.[/sblock]

[sblock="Ninja'd by Dekana"]Check out the new street map, I think that'll help give you some better perspective. You guys are just south of the Customs building, and the trashcan is in front of the building just south of the alley. It doesn't look like govt trash. ;)[/sblock]

Urge to kill... RISING.

Seriously though, the new map does help. Thanks![/sblock]Noticing that she is now within line of sight of the inattentive guard, Jezebel backs up slowly into the alley. She motions for Alnar to do the same.
Move to Q3.

Verloc slips into the room, around the door and along the wall until he finds a bookcase. In the light of the sunrod he searches through the shelves, knocking down a few books while doing so.

Damnit, I'm never that unprofessional, he scolds himself, dropping down on the floor not to be seen.

*Move: move silently to J8. Rolled a 12
*Minor Action: search the shelves I-K9. Rolled a 15
*Free Action: drop prone

In the Office

Verloc moves over to the bookshelf nearest the back door and makes a thorough search. He satisfies himself that they contain nothing of use, but unfortunately knocks a book off the shelf at the end of his search, which hits the wooden floorboards with a definitely audible thud. Realizing his mistake, he quickly drops behind the desk so as to avoid notice.

On the Street

Just after Jezebel and Alnar move back into the Alley, they hear a distinct *thud* from inside the office. Ferris hears the voice of the guard from up the street, "Huh? What was that?"

[sblock=actions]Round 9

Inside

Garry:

Bann-ur:

Joox/Verloc: (Failed stealth check at the end of round 8)

Outside
Ferris: You're up!

Alnar: You're up!

Jezebel: You're up!

The party members outside should act first this round, as they'll need to distract the guard. To distract the guard you'll need one success on a Bluff or Diplomacy check versus DC 13, or an Intimidate check versus DC 16. I'm only going to allow 2 successes for distraction using Intimidate, as any more might make the guard uncomfortable to the point that he rings the alarm. Once one party member on the street achieves a success, the rest can delay this round in case they need to cover for another failed stealth check.

Items found: 0/3
Group Failures: 0/3

Ferris, his senses tuned into the scene around hears a light thud from inside the building and hears a slight exclamation from the guard. Eyes wide he turns to Jezebel and Alnar and hisses, "The guard has heard noises from inside!"

Gut roiling, Ferris contemplates acting drunk and staggering out into the street to distract the guard, but realizes As an actor, I am a damned fine blacksmith. He gestures at Jezebel and Alnar: showtime!

[sblock=ooc] My best bet to contribute is Diplomacy (+4) so I am thinking I will enter the skill challenge after Jez and Al have engaged the guard, try to smooth things over and such.[/sblock]
