(Adventure) Pest removal at unusual height and depth

Jack's arrow flies close by the creature, despite him reacting quite fast. (Attack roll 6, +6 = 12)

*Mintrik takes a shot with his crossbow (attack roll 10, +2 = 12), but also misses.

The fungus shambles with a surprising speed towards Jack, trying to slam him, but misses wildly (charge).

Lothé jumps into the fray with a dagger, but it seems that he isn't used to do that very much, and misses the fungus possibly even more wildly. (attack roll 3, +1 =4)

Reilin, like the others before, misses with his crossbow (roll of 15, +0, -4 melee = 11).

Shadowlyn, however, manages to shoot a sling bullet directly into the mass of the beast (16, +5, -4 melee =17; a hit), but doesn't seem to hurt the creature.

Shilo stays back a bit, along with Shadowlyn.

Loskrad enters melee as well (attack roll 13, +5 = 18; a hit, damage roll 5, +4 = 9), and successfully drops the creature.

With the creature defeated, the group slowly advances further, about another 80 feet, where the tunnel forks northeast-wards and southwards. From the north-eastern tunnel, you can see a red glow, like from the temple site.

Reilin frowns, then whispers, "Did you hear that?"

Mintrik, Shadowlyn: (
You hear bones clacking in the south, coming nearer.
)

"It appears that more of the bone creatures are on their way here from the south. Lothe, which way to this place where we are headed?"

Shadowlyn peers southwards, trying to get an idea of how far the creatures are and how much time they have to decide on heading north or south.

Shadowlyn: (
You get the impression that the creatures are about 150 feet away still, at least 6 seconds away if they are skeletal rats like the one you encountered before.
)

Lothé whispers "To the glow, that way!", pointing up the northeast tunnel, and starting to sneak along, looking if you follow. "Lothé want to avoid bone rats, if possible."

Reilin says that he'll stay at the end of the group, for the possibility to turn the undead that are coming their way.

The group sneaks along the north-east tunnel, while the bone rats, judging by the sounds, move further north, propably to the point where the group killed the second fungus.

As the group comes closer to the glow, they can hear the sounds that they have come to associate with the fungi, and something else... Some profane sounds, almost like ... a language?

Mintrik: (
You hear some of the profane language, identifying as some broken dialect of Abyssal... the speaker seems to demand the destruction of light, since darkness fails.
)

Mintrik whispers to the others.

"Someone is speaking a broken dialect of Abyssal, demanding the destruction of light, since darkness fails. Lothe, who is speaking?"

Lothé seems unsure, and hesitates with his answer.

"Lothé never heard anyone speak this way. But one of the fungi ...sounds similar... strange fungus, looks as if it had wings."
