Adventure Recommendation Request

Hey all. I just found out that I am going to be running an Introduction to D&D game in a few weeks. I'll have 1-2 experienced players helping to break in 2 new players. I usually don't like how little a 1st level character can do, but I think throwing a 4th or 5th level character at a new player is simply too much for them to handle. Thus I was thinking of running the adventure in the 2nd to possibly 3rd level range. However, as a DM its been a LONG time since I have run anything in that level range, as I normally play in my preferred sweet spot of 6th-12th level.

Can anyone recommend a well written and fun pre-written adventure for 2nd-3rd level, other than Freeport as I will be using Freeport later on in a new game that will include the 2 experienced players (and hopefully the new players).

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

Of Sound Mind is a 1st-level adventure, but author Kevin Kulp (yes, that's right, our own Piratecat!) suggests that it's probably best to use 2nd-level PCs when running it. It's really a fantastic adventure, with one of the best finishing scenes I've ever seen in any published module.

I really like Paizo's D0 (Hollow's Last Hope) and D1 (Crown of the Kobold King). I find them to be excellent introductory adventures. D1 is a masterpiece in my opinion, but D0 has the added advantage of being a free download from Paizo's site.
As much as I wish it were so, D0 isn't free anymore. Currently a $5 download. Not a bad price mind you but not free. I had looked at these (to use up my store credit from Dragon but there isn’t a lot of details about the modules and how they play in the comments. Any idea how these actually play? How long does the adventure take in real time to go through? Is it a one night session module, 2-4 sessions? Etc.

Wizards Amulet is a classic choice. (ENnie award for best free product, free download) It's for six 1st level PCs, but I don't think there's be any problem running it for 2nd level PCs, especially if you have fewer than six PCs.)
I just checked this and saw that they did a Revised version, which I downloaded. I didn't however realize it was intended for 6 1st level PC's. This might actually work out well for a group of three 2nd level characters, but I'll have to read it over. Has anyone actually run this one? Any idea of the time involved to complete the adventure (in average sessions)?

Is this only available direct from the Fiery Dragon site? Do you know if there was ever a PDF version done?
Since you seem to have actually played or run this, what was the time period roughly (in sessions)?

Thanks all!

You just missed it. It's in very small print. Its says, "his adventure is now available for free download: 2.9 MB zip PDF" Click on the thing that says PDF. It's right below the pregenerated character download.

Thanks much for that.

Have you actually run this? I'd really like to get an estimation on time necessary to run the module. Thanks!

I'm not sure if it's available in PDF form or anywhere but through Fiery Dragon's site; I bought mine at my gaming/comic shop. We went through the adventure in one afternoon/evening session, with 3 2nd-level PCs.

If you're looking for a 2nd level adventure, it's hard to go wrong with The Dragonfiend Pact, from Goodman Games. It's a $2 module, either in print or PDF.

They also have a level 1 $2 module, the Transmuter's Last Touch.

Both are excellent.

Wizard's Amulet is easily able to be finished in one 4-hour session. It's a very short and straightforward adventure (a bit too linear for experienced players, but probably not a problem for novices). The end battle is pretty darn tough.
