(Adventure) Retrieval of Fallon's Key (Macbeth Judging)

The party walks through the city, fairy fire of different shades highlighting different aspects of arcutecture, it reminds you of stories you heard about some of the great drow cities in the underdark, except that the consistant number of clear watered canels that you cross reflect the light to amplify the effects of it.

The canels are full of pole pushed boats with passengers enjoying the splenders of the city, or rushing down the current, trying to get someplace.

On this road, at least, you have seen three patrols of enforcers of some sort. The first group had been lead by an individual with only a wand as a weapon, the second by what looked like a clergyman of one god or another and the last looked to be only fighting men.

Passing signs in the streets anouncing the locations of things on crossing streets, you can easily see that you are heading towards the College of Wizardry, and soon see the arched gateway to the school, itself. The towers beyond the gate are the tallest in the city, some of which reach heights exceeding 20 stories.

The boy leeds the group to the most promanent tower and opens the unlocked door for the group to enter. After everone is inside, they note that the tower is broken into halls and rooms. The lad then leads the group to a side door, passing art without even a glance. Opening the door, beyond reveals a stairway leading up. Going up the stairway for a countless number of stairs, the lad finally turns to the last of many doors that were passed and motions for the group to go through.

"This is as far as I go. Beyond is the Controll Assembly Room. My father will meet you inside." He then starts to head down the stairs at a skip.

The door infront of the group is just as non-discript as the other doors that they have passed, except for the blue glow of light that appears from around the door, as if it's trying to escape the confines of the room.

Iggy

"Thank you, Eldendrell. Hope to see you again." Then to the party, "OK, here we go." Iggy smiles nervously. "Best behavior everyone - that means no belching, Sara." He winks and opens the door.

The door opens easily revealing a larg room that must take up the whole floor. The rookf is flat, some 20' overhead, it's wooden rafters barely visible to those with nrmal sight. The only light in this room is coming from the center of the room where a machine seems to humm. It's mainly made of metal with levers coming off of it in random areas. The whole thing must be at least 10' tall, and takes up a good portion of the center of the room. There is a constant humm in the air (as if from electrical current) and the snell of sulfer and something else, something sweeter fills the air. The walls of the room (except for the one behind you) are all stone and circle around the room as you would imagine they should in a tower; the floor is hard wood, polished and glowing blue from the machines light.

In front of the machine, looking away from it towards the door is a strange apparision. Standing 6' tall, and weighing not more then 120 pounds, is an elf, his long straight hair seeming blue from the light, his pale skin the same hugh.

He has on a white silk shirt (though, like his hair looks blue inthe light), under which, the observant would not that a fine shirt of chainmail shows at the neck underneath. His pants are as fine as his shirt, though surely not silk. At his side is a rapier in a scabbard with a symbol on it, and on his back is a cloak which appears purple in the blue light of the room.

"Welcome friends." comes the soft whisper of a greeting, barely louder then the soft humm of machinery.

Sara sticks out her tongue before the door opens, but steps in quietly behind Iggy. She nods to the elf inside and stands silently behind the halfling wizard with a protective but largely polite air.

Iggy

"Greetings. I am Ignatious O'Reilly, graduate of the Academy of the Chromatic Order in Tharol." He bows. "My companions & I are here to assist Mithreander in the retreival of a certain object. Are you Mithreander, by chance?"

Closing his eyes because of the lack of good lighting, Rogier tries to spot the man who talked to him. I am Rogier, Paladin of Hyrag, at your service. We have been hired by your son, I assume you are his father, for the retrieval of a certain item. Is that correct, good Lord?

In the same soft voice the elf moves forward to gret the group. "Hello, and welcome, once more." He nods to them and adds "Yes, I am Mithreander H;'unnett, and I am humbled to meet you." He bows to them with grace that any creature might envy.

Noticing the groups squinting eyes, he look behind him and asks "Can I make your stay more confortable?" He begins to cast a spell, and the tower seems to change, warp and disappear as the area around the group transforms into a forest glade with collums of marble that look to be older then all the large tree in the glade. At one end of the glade is a set of broad stairs leading up to a table, which the now appearant albino elf starts to head up to. The light is now that of a midday noon. It's odviously an illusion, though, try as you do you do not seem to be able to penitrate it, but then it may require more then just simple interaction to pierce the veil.

"Please, have a seat." Mithreander shows by example as he takes a seat himself. "I hope this is more confortable." straitening himself self consciously he caughs slightly before talking. "THe city has had something taken from it, and I have asked you here to reteave it. It's the key to the console that you had seen before I covered it. Needless to say, we can not use the console without a great deal of headache without the key. I have taken on myself to hire you to go after it. The council does not agree to my plan yet, but either they will, or hopefully, you will return with the key, and it will be beyond their durocracy. Any questions?" Expecting a large number of them, he puts his hands down into his pocket and feels something. With a look of surprise he pulls up his hand with a small circular object about the size of his palm. It looks almost flat, like an overly large coin. He places it on eht table, and everyone can see an arrow attacked to the exact center of the disk pointing somewhere ver the elf's shoulder, steady as a rock.

Mithreander motions to the disk infront of him. "This is a homing device that is targeted to the key. All you have to do is simple follow it to your destination. There are two limitations to the device, however. One, it only works in a planer geograph, rather then a spherical one that would be prefered, so be prepared for that limitation. And it also failed to work properly next to large collections of Mithral, not that this limitation is normally a problem, but in this case it is." He pushes the disk down the table to Iggy's place for him to look at it.

"I have made arangements for your stay here in the city tonight. You can get started tomorrow morning." the elf says standing. "Were there any other questions?"
