(Adventure) Rivenblight's Castaway [Creamsteak judging]

Ioleta heaves a great, long-suffering sigh. "No intrigue? No excitement? What fun is that?"

She smiles weakly, "Well, then, you should know I'm not all that great shakes toe-to-toe in a stand-up fight. And while I'm a fair shot with bow, I haven't got one." She shrugs, "I guess I'll really be earning my 'and-a-quarter'."

She studies her boots for a moment. "Watches sound fine, wake me up two hours into your watch, Jaan. I'll go grab us something to eat. Requests?" She takes any orders folk have and trots off, returning swiftly with the food.

OOC: How much for the four of us, TH, ale and stew or whatever?

Ioleta enters the inn. Judging by the internal dimensions, there can't be that many private rooms- most of the space is taken up by a large common area, with an open spot near the fire where several people have already placed their bedrolls. There aren't that many travellers here- perhaps a half dozen awake, and another three sleeping- and they're all being fairly quiet and well-behaved. Tylkin has already sat down to a meal of one leg of roast chicken, some good white bread, wine, cheese, and carrots. He stands, showing uncharacteristic courteousness, and pulls your out a chair. "Care to join me? They've only got the one chicken tonight," he says with a smirk, "But I'd be happy to share it with you."

For 5 sp apiece, you get can about what Tylkin's got (although Tylkin's willing to buy if you're willing to join him). For 3 sp, chicken soup, coarse bread, small amount of cheese, and carrots.

Ioleta makes a gracious curtsy, only somewhat marred by her travel stained gear and clothes. Cocking her head she considers Tylkin from under demurely lowered lashes. What is this one up to? She straightens, her lilting voice taking on a formal tone, "I would be remiss if I did not promptly return with food and drink for my comrades. However, I should like to return, if you wouldn't mind waiting."

"Some hot soup, bread and meat would be good. You don't have to eat outside. Get yours first. I'll need quater of an hour to get the mule sorted. Bring something when you're finished."

Jaan pulls 5 sp from his pouch and hands it over to Ioleta.

Once Ioleta, and the others if they do, leaves, Jaan sets to work removing the harness and giving the mule a rubdown. Its just like being back at the temple. I traveled 2 weeks for this? But actually, Jaan finds the simple work relaxing.

"I'll take th' last watch." Troi says.

Ioleta
"Well, then, you should know I'm not all that great shakes toe-to-toe in a stand-up fight. And while I'm a fair shot with bow, I haven't got one."

Troi smirks. "Well, that ain't too much of a problem. If yer good with a bow, ya can use mine." He unslings his longbow off his shoulder, and sets it on the wagon. "I hope ya've had trainin' with longbows? S'all I got, an' we need ta maximize our 'fficiency if we're ta get this done right on th' first try."

Ioleta
"I'll go grab us something to eat. Requests?"

Troi shrugs. "Whatever, so long as some a it's warm. I'll pay ya back when ya get back."

Jaan gets the mule sorted, then his meal. If there are any other guards around, he makes a point of greeting them, but will hold off jumping in 'til he has eaten, and has a chance to see how they get on. Don't want to go barging in where I'm not wanted. If there is a fire, he'll gravitate towards that. If not, and it looks like it would be ok to start one, he does.

For a while he debates testing the air for the taint of evil. If it threatens, it would be better to know. But he has no wish to be drawn into something he is in no position to deal with. A little bit of knowledge can be a dangerous thing they used to say. At last he decides to do so - the Greenman will understand if he cannot act upon it at this point in time.

ooc: Hey TH - did Jaan detect anything?

Jaan spends a little time sitting atop the wagon and watching the stars and listening to the other guards (if there are any). After a while, he'll jump down from the wagon and head over to a group of them.

"Hey lads. Jaan. We're heading up the Rivenblight road tomorrow. Any of you just come down that way?"

ooc: Got Diplomacy +3 for what is worth. Gather Info would be better, as this is what he hopes to do.

Ioleta curtsies to Tlykin and bustles off to get a meal for each of her companions. She hurries it out, while the meat is still hot and the ale cold... er, well, cool. ish.

She looks a little puzzled as she sets down the mugs and plates, "Tylkin's gone all nice. He's offered to buy my dinner." She frowns thoughfully, "Wonder what that's all about?" She opens her pack and puts the bulk of her coin in it and checks her daggers. Seems there are rather more daggers on her than a first glance reveals.

She shrugs and hops up, "I won't be long." She fishes in her pouch and puts a whistle into Jaan's hand, "I'll be listening." She trots off toward the Inn and enters.

OOC: She'll stop and listen if anyone has anything to say. Also, Ioleta probably made it out while Jaan was still settling the mule. She wouldn't interrupt him talking to the other guards. Okay, that's a lie, but she wouldn't interrupt him right now.
