Adventure suggestion

Can anyone suggest a good adventure to run?
I'm running a D&D 3.5 low magic gestalt (per UA rules) game.
Currently the PCs are in desert mountains acting as protectors/law enforcement of a small mining town. They will be there for a year of game time. The mountains are on the political borders of several arab-like nations.

Anyone know of an adventure about protecting a small town from a particular menace? A mystery? A good scenario about peacekeeping/law enforcement? Protecting a secluded town from a danger?

You can always do a variant on the classic Village of Hommlet, which became rolled up into the Temple of Elemental Evil and Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil.

Perhaps some valuable node of [gems/adamantine/silver] is found in an undiscovered part of the mine, and the neighboring arab states begin a bidding war to secure a deal with the mining town. Besides sending diplomats to the mining town, the states send saboteurs to discourage, discredit, and run off the competing states.

The guy in charge of the mine becomes paranoid and suspects everyone of trying to kill him to get the mining rights for themselves. Meanwhile, the node turns out to be undiscovered for a reason, as miners begin disappearing near the new work site and horrible monsters are sighted in the area.

Not about brotecting a small town precisely (everything can be adjusted ;) ) but...

Desert?

B4 - Lost City (that should keep you busy... a whole campaign if you expand it)

"Palace of the Twisted King"
Location: Dungeon #116 (Nov 2004), page 18

Notes: A blistering sandstorm finally breaks, revealing a moribund ruin long shrouded by the desert sands. Its crumbling walls might provide respite from the terrible winds, but the keep’s ancient meenlock master has a special bed for visitors—his grisly operating table! A D&D adventure for 5th-level characters.
