[sblock=OOC]Sorry for the wait guys, time to get rolling again![/sblock]
The group follow the simple directions gleaned from the harpy and ogre, sticking as close as possible to the rockface as it curves round and leads them deeper into the slums of Khyber's Gate. There is no street to speak of here, but only narrow pathways through the battered tents and lean-to shacks of the district's denizens. The squalor of their lives is obvious, and the din and stink of the place is even worse than what came before.
Before long, as expected, the tall spire of an ancient building is visible above the squat edifices surrounding it. It looks neglected, half ruined, but even in this dilapitated state it looms imposingly on the horizon in dark silhouette thrown, lit faintly from below by the fires and torches of the slumdwellers all around.
As you get closer, you can see that the residents keep a respectful distance from the place. Their makeshift homes crowd to a point about fifty yards away from its bulk and then simply stop, approaching no further across the expanse of dusty rock. The main body of the temple is a squat, heavy, almost cubic structure of black stone, punctuated by heavy buttresses that protrude at intervals from the walls. At the back this cuboid shape bulges out into round bulk of the spire's base, which then tapers slowly as it climbs.
The front doors are heavy stone, a lighter colour than the walls, carved with designs made unintelligible by the passage of time. Slit windows are visible around the temple's main body, about ten yards off the ground - too small for a person to fit through, but large enough to allow ingress for a small animal. It's easy to see why the locals shun this place; the whole structure gives off an unsettling air of menace.
