Adventure: The Power of Knowledge (DM: Fragsie, Judge: TwoHeadsBarking)

[sblock=OOC]Well, then I guess Skillass should make one more arcana check since he'll have a different target. ;)[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Sorry, Ceryx works on hyper-thinking and impulse when there's danger. And supposedly, someone's in danger. But maybe someone more levelheaded can try to do the check who's here.[/sblock]

//I'm assuming that you'll head on out when Ceryx said to follow him, but these are knowledge checks so they can be done retroactively.//

Spurred on by the deva's cry of realisation, the diminished party hurry through the dark streets (with which you are starting to become familiar), as it's almost midnight none of the windows you pass are lit, and the alleys and back passages look more foreboding than ever. Sticking to the main streets and keeping the pace up you arrive at the broken fountain within ten minutes.

The pale golden light of Skalisss' sunrod casts an eerie light over the empty square, a quick reconnoiter of the area you discover a drow woman unconscious at the entrance to a side street, though it looks nothing like Mikara, it seems to be wearing her armour and sword. This woman's face would probably scare the life out of a child, her nose is huge and covered in boils and warts, her ears hang in folds much like her square chin and hair sprouts from her in all the wrong places. An unusually large and pustulous wart has grown over her right eye.

Just ignore the pipe![/sblock]
There are large bruises and cuts visible on her body suggesting that she has been beaten badly.

[sblock=EWWW!] OMG!! You turned my hotty into an ugly dwarf! A ugly male dwarf at that! OH ho ho ho ho!! I am SOOOO going to kick the ever loving crap outta that chicks minions! Awww... man... this is going to cause mental scarring... Oh well... at least my charisma score shouldn't be touched. Ugly can be just as intimidating as wicked but beautiful... I'm sure i'll have a huge penalty to diplomacy though, lol![/sblock]

[sblock=Kalidrev]I'm sorry to say that the hideous woman is Mikara, though I'm really curious to see how she deals with it seeing as she often uses her attractiveness as a tool.

If the guys wake you, go ahead and have Mikara wake easily, she hasn't yet seen herself, so a big reaction would be cool :p

If you could copy/paste the following onto your character sheet:

Lost Endowment: Mikara has had her beauty stolen from her by the 'Runelord', leaving her covered in boils and rather ugly. Mikara takes a -4 penalty to Charisma based skill checks.[/sblock]

[sblock=Fragsie] Really? ALL charisma based-skill checks? Diplomacy, definitely; Streetwise, okay, I can see that. But intimidate should be enhanced if not left alone, and looks shouldn't have anything to do with how well one lies. I'll roll with it if you say to, but I just think it should be a penalty to Diplomacy and Streetwise, not ALL charisma skills. [/sblock]

[sblock=Kalidrev]I might lessen it to what you suggest after a little while (like 2 days game time), Mikara will have to learn how to use her new face with those skills... a learning curve, is that an ok compromise? :)

Oh and the runic brand is permanent even if the spell is reversed, so you should put it in your character description, its at the top of the right shoulder.[/sblock]

As soon as Ceryx notices Mikara's body, he runs over to her and begins checking the condition of her cuts and bruises.

[sblock=Heal Check]1d20+9->16[/sblock]

After determining her wounds aren't fatal, Ceryx looks for Brother Shane. "Can you do anything to help her? It seems as though she has been beaten and scarred. Badly. I believe there is nothing more I can do without magical assistance."

And with that, Ceryx begins attempting to wake the drow by shaking her shoulder.

After drifting on dark dreams, Mikara is wakened by the shaking of her shoulder. Looking up, she sees Ceryx.

"Oh, thank the gods it's you, Ceryx. I had a terrible run in with those bastards we were following. They captured me and beat me pretty badly. One of them even burned me with a branding iron!"

"What the..." remarks Skalisss. "They did more than jussst beat you Mikara, can it be that thisss magic is transssferring more than just ssstrength and vitality?"
