Adventure: The Power of Knowledge (DM: Fragsie, Judge: TwoHeadsBarking)

Turning to his companion, Andrec says in a low voice, "Ignore him Skaliss, he is irrelevant to our job here. The city will hear how helpful he was to us. For now," He turns and points to a less self-important individual. "You heard what I need! I don't have time to wait here, someone show me where the injured men were found!"

The 'less important' fellow looks up at the party with surprise, and perhaps a little fear and begins to stutter something, but he is saved and quickly disappears behind the lecterns when the first librarian to receive an order from Andrec returns and taps the warlord tentatively on the shoulder.
When the group turn to regard him you notice an elderly human in quite elaborate robes carefully making his way across the hall toward you leaning heavily on a polished oak staff. He was probably a tall man in his younger years but is now almost bent double with a wizened back, his long grey beard almost drags on the polished marble floor as he inches forward.

"This is... uh... Maester Scrivan, with Maesters Writ and Wordsworth incapacitated Maester Scrivan has come out of his semi retirement to watch over the library, I'm sure he will help you any way he can... just don't speak too fast." The young librarian bows deeply and the hurries off again.

You walk up to the library elder; saving your self the four minutes it would have taken him to reach you, and he looks up into each of your faces in turn seemingly spending a moment to imprint your images into his memory before speaking in a quiet methodical voice.
"Salutations young adventurers, what seems to be the... err... problem? Young whassisname said something about being from the city?"

While the others were dealing with the red tape and trying to get more information from the elderly Maester, Mikara hangs in the back, invisible to all but her companions. Slowly scanning the library while the others talked, she looked out for her companions, should anything be out of the ordinary.

Andrec thanks the helpful librarian as he scurries off. Turning to the old man, he sheds his demanding tone, saying "Thanks you for seeing us, Maester Scrivan. The City has charged us with finding and putting an end to the recent troubles that have befallen Maesters Writ and Wordsworth, among others. We will need to see where they were found, and speak to anyone who was working at the time. Can you help us?"

[sblock=Mikara Only]Scanning the large hall, it doesn't take Mikara long to notice that the adventurers are being carefully watched. Over on the far side of the austere chamber; hidden in the shadows of an unlit archway, a hooded figure stands perfectly still. Although she cannot pierce the darkness of the figures cowl, Mikara is convinced that it is staring right back at her. The figure seems to have a feminine shape to it, though at this distance it is difficult to be certain of the figure's sex.[/sblock]
"Oh, those two younguns, always getting into trouble they were. Well, I was was told that they were up to something in the err... the um... the city records, that's right, yes.
If you take the stairs to the um... yes, the third floor, then go through err... medicine and chirurgery, no, that's wrong... Pharmacology that's it. Through Pharmacology and to the second anex and you will be in city records.
"

"You have our thanks, old one. I was told an acolyte by the name of Sharlia found the two when they were injured. Would you please have someone find her for us, and ask her to meet us there?"

Remaining hidden from those around her, Mikara pulls on one of Andrec's sleeves before whispering to him.

"We're being watched. Over there on the other side, in the shadows. It looks like a she, but it's wearing a cowled robe. They're keeping an eye on us. Expect an ambush soon."

Not wanting the watching figure to know that she knew the figure was watching them, she remains with the group and bides her time. There was no way should could get at the figure now, not with the distance and open space between them, but she would wait for the opportune moment to strike. Then she'd have at least a piece of her revenge.

"Sharlia? Oh yes, the storyteller. She will most likely be in the next annex over from city records; mythology and folk tales. I hope you find what you're looking for."
The old maester points to the main stair way then bows slightly, his back creaking as he does so.

//Are any of the rest of you going to take a look at the shadowy figure?//

//Are any of the rest of you going to take a look at the shadowy figure?//

Skalisss resists the temptation to look, keeping his eyes on the old Librarian instead. As soon as we are moving again he whispers to the rest:

"Good, we want to sssee the ambushersss before they have usss enclosssed, ssso be alert."

[sblock=Shadowy Figure]Andrec will keep an eye halfway in that direction, but knows better than to reveal that he knows the person is there. He is paying attention and ready for attack, but waiting to see what the person does, rather than forcing their hand.[/sblock]
Thanking the old man, Andrec will lead the party to the place where the two historians were found. Along the way, he will stop yet another employee of the library, inform them that he is on city business, and ask them to go down to the mythology and folk tales annex to get Acolyte Sharli and bring her back to the place where we are headed.
