Given that Growl was practically at full hp at the time of Andrec's turn, I'm going to say that Inspiring Word didn't happen.[/sblock]

Snarling incoherently, Kyvan swings his blade into Growl as lightning continues to arc out from him. Despite his unceasing rage, it is clear he doesn't have much fight left in him.

One of the rats feebly scrabbles against Skaliss's armor, but the other sinks its fangs into Andrec's calf.

The archer calmly leans over from the roof and fires an arrow into Brother Shane.

Not to be outdone, Shane whispers a quick prayer, causing Kyvan to stagger and drop his guard.

[sblock=Actions]At the start of Kyvan's turn, Growl and Andrec take 3 lightning damage. Pew-pew! Tactical Switch fails to recharge. Kyvan attacks Growl, hitting AC 19 for 9 damage. Growl is marked until the end of Kyvan's next turn. Kyvan is still angry.

Dire Rat 94 attacks Skaliss, missing terribly.

Dire Rat 19 moves to L7 (very uncool) and attacks Andrec, hitting with a 22 vs AC for 5 damage, bloodying Andrec.

Elf Archer moves to N5 and attacks Shane, hitting AC 24 for 10 damage.

Shane attacks Kyvan with Astral Seal, hitting with a 25 vs Reflex. Kyvan is at -2 to all defenses, and the next ally to hit him regains 5 hp.[/sblock]

Focused intently on Kyvan, Andrec is unprepared for the ferocity of the Growl's attack, and appears stunned for a moment as his enemy falls. The moment doesn't last however, as Andrec spins about rapidly, making a wild lunge at the giant rat behind him, forcing the rat to dodge wildly, right into Skalisss' sword.

Inspired by Andrec's maneuver, Skalisss strikes the rat a devistating blow then administers the kill shot. Leaving it in a pool of blood he moves into position to engage the last rat.

[sblock=Future plans]So, here is my plan regarding the rest of this adventure:

  • Come up with and then implement a plot-related reason to have Mikara and Shane leave the party. I suppose Mikara can stay if you feel you need the striker, but I'm not wild about continuing to run Shane with the reverse-engineered stats I've been using.
  • Continue the adventure roughly as Fragsie wrote it, only scaled down to a smaller party, a bit less investigation on your part, and a bit more direction from the DM's part.
If you want something else to happen or want Mikara to stay, let me know.[/sblock]

The rat fights like a cornered, well, rat, but fails to harm anyone.

The archer tries to avenge Kyvan's death, but his aim wavers and the arrow skitters uselessly across the cobblestones.

Brother Shane utters another prayer. The rat shudders and cowers in pain.

The rat is good at being filthy but terrible at hitting. I rolled twice because I'm an idiot and forgot that rat 94 had died.

Elf Archer moves to M5 and attacks Growl, but fails to surpass the rat.

Shane attacks Dire Rat 19 with Gaze of Defiance. The roll is bad, but not as bad as the rat's Will. 10 psychic damage, and everyone gets a +1 power bonus to hit it.[/sblock]
