[sblock=Skill Challenges][sblock=ROUND 4:]

Round 4:

Skill Challenge 1 (Engine Fire): (3/6 successes 1/3 failures)

Masumi attempts to assist the ice fairy, but her rushed spell fizzles, earning a failure.

Skill Challenge 2 (Wealthy Cabin): (COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY!)

(Grryth rolled a total of 15 and Garrick rolled an unfortunate 3; the conductor gives Grryth a +2 bonus for a total of 17 and another success is earned.)

This means that all further ongoing damage is dropped to 2 fire damage per round, and is only applicable to characters that are in the same cabin as the fire. (Fire is only currently affecting the Middle Class Cabin)

Skill Challenge 3 (Middle Class Cabin): (4/6 successes 3/3 failures) FAILED!

Lo-Kag, renewed and refreshed, pounds on the walls of the cabin with a bench-pillow and snuffs a significant amount of fire, earning a success.

Alexia attempts to help in the middle-class cabin, but the shouting voice of the fire elemental jars her, earning a failure.

Gurdan thinks about what could help the situation, but unfortunately nothing comes to mind and he stands being ineffectual. This earns the final failure.

Round 5:

Skill Challenge 1: Engine Fire: (4/6 successes 1/3 failures)

Garrick shows Masumi how it's done and is able to send helpful arcane energy into the engine in an attempt to empower the ice fairy. This earns a success.

Skill Challenge 2 (Wealthy Cabin): (COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY!)

Skill Challenge 3 (Middle Class Cabin): FAILED!

As the fire rages on in the middle-class cabin, many of the passengers can see that it is simply too late. Some of the braver men position themselves over the crystal connection point that keeps the cabins together. With the swing of several swords, they manage to damage the crystal enough to halt its magic. The poor cabin disconnects from the rest of the train and quickly decelerates, being swiftly left behind by the rest of the train.

Gurdis appears at the door and shouts out to you.

"We be catchin' up a'bit later! G'luck t'ye!"

The fire in the engine flares and dampens in cycles showing the continual battle between the two elemental forces within. Either side could win this battle at this point, though with the weakening of the flames, it is obvious that the ice fairy has a slight advantage.

With nothing left to burn, the fire in the middle-class cabin is snuffed out by the quickly moving lightning rail and the ceiling and walls crumble into piles of ash on the stone flooring that is swept away with the wind.

Grryth carries his trusty fire suppression cushion up to the burning engine and goes to work trying to put out any visible flames. the cushion bursts into flames, but luckily the conductor had followed Grryth with some spares. With the new, and apparently even more fire retardant cushion, Grryth manages to smother some of the flames.

[sblock=Mechanics]
1d20+12(Athletics check)=16, will use the conductor again (sorry) and that makes it a 18.
[/sblock]

Lo-Kag, seeing that his efforts have falled in cabin 2, sprints to the engine room (double move) to assist in putting out the fire there.

[sblock=ooc]
I don't think I'm allowed to do a skill challenge after a double move. Let me know
[/sblock]

[sblock=Lo-Kag] A double-move takes up your move and standard action, but depending on what skill you use, some are minor or free actions, and some are move or Standard actions. If you can give me an idea of what kind of skill you would like to use, I can give you an idea if you can do them this turn. Aid Another is always a Standard Action, however.[/sblock]

On the way to the engine room, Lo-Kag shouts to the upper states in an urgent mannor. "You and you, come with me. We managed to put out the fire in middle class cabin by working together. If you want to live through this, you got to help me out over there (pointing to the engine). There's no time to wait...are you with me?"

Grryth, Lo-Kag, the conductor, and a few of the left-over volunteers make their way through the smoke of the Middle-Class cabin and beat at the residual flames that hover around the engine. After a few moments, a tumultuous crack can be heard and you can see the engine frosting over. Shaefa appears back in her summoning circle in a flash of light and the mist thickens once more.

"I have done as asked, my summoner," she says, looking at Masumi. "Our pact continues and the bonds are now written in the favor of the Court of Frost. We may now call upon you for assistance in the future."

Taking out a wand made of twisted willow, Shaefa touches the inside wrist of Masumi's left arm. The image of an ice-blue snowflake appears and Masumi notices that this is cold to the touch.

"You now have the mark of Frost and our Court lays claim to your pact with the fey courts. Feel free to call on us in times of need, for we are now bonded."

The summoning circle begins to fade, as does Shaefa, until nothing is left but a wisp of mist that dissipates after a few seconds. The elemental engine, full of ice, finally seizes, and the lightning rail begins to slow at a rapid pace. After the span of only a minute, the rail is stopped.

Round 5:

Skill Challenge 1: Engine Fire: (COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY!)

Garrick shows Masumi how it's done and is able to send helpful arcane energy into the engine in an attempt to empower the ice fairy. This earns a success.

Grryth, Lo-Kag, and a few of the leftover volunteers assist the conductor in putting out any of the residual fires that lie on the outside of the engine, earning an additional 2 successes!

Skill Challenge 2 (Wealthy Cabin): (COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY!)

Skill Challenge 3 (Middle Class Cabin): FAILED!

[sblock=Question for the Judge] Today is the 12th... and the adventure first started on the 14th of August of 2009... do I really need to wait another 2 days to give XP so that I can give them this months time XP? [/sblock]

[sblock=XP time!]
Sorry I didn't have this up when I said I would. Got busy at work that day, then got sick yesterday on top of it :( blech. But I'm all better now and back to work. See below for all of the XP you've earned!

Protect Proprietors' Property!: 1075 XP
- 2 x Master Theif; lvl 5 standard creature; 200 XP each
- 3 x Thief; lvl 4 standard creature; 175 XP each
- 3 x Thiefling; lvl 4 minion; 44 XP each

Interception!: 525 XP
- Complexity 3 Skill Challenge of level 4 (worth the same as 3 lvl 4 creatures)

Kill the Messenger!: 1000 XP
- 1 x Level 5 Solo Creature; 1000 XP

Rail Battle: 1300 XP
- 1 x Tracker; 600 XP
- 4 x Forged Bandits; 175 XP each

Completed Skill Challenges on the Lightning Rail: 700
- Engine Fire: Complexity 2; Level 4 (worth 2 lvl 4 creatures; 350)
- Wealthy Cabin: Complexity 2; Level 4 (worth 2 lvl 4 creatures; 350)

Totals:
1075
0525
1000
1300
0700
------
4600 --- Doubled to 9,200 XP (gotta love Eberron, eh?)

Because of the outstanding roleplaying that you guys have been doing these last 5 months, I am giving you guys a bonus 250 XP!

9,200 + 250 = 9450/6 players = 1575 XP each!

As of today, this adventure has been running exactly 5 months (August 14th is the day we started this lil shindig. Today is January 14th). This means that you guys have also earned 5 RP, which can be exchanged for XP in the amount equal to a creature of your current level. At lvl 4, this would mean each RP was worth 175 XP.

3750 (your base XP) + 1575 puts you at 5,325 XP, just shy of gaining 5th level (5500 XP). Simply spend 1 RP and you'll have your level :)

Save the other 4 for when you get close to 6th level (just incase we're a little shy again next time). This way, each RP will be worth 200 XP instead of 175. Also, don't forget to keep track of how many total RP's you have earned and spent. For every 10 RP you spend, you gain 1/5th of the cost of a magic item of your level.

Welcome to 5th level! Now go out there and get your character sheets all updated. Post here when you have your sheet updated so that I can get in there and get you guys approved :)
[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC] Neat! Thanks for the exp ... I'll be leveling as soon as humanly possible since I'm also anxious of making another character before we're out of new games :D [/sblock]

[Sblock=Level up] Done with the sheet modifications, nowI just need to get those approved. Should I go ahead with the emails or should I just wait for you? [/sblock]
