Adventure Wiki?

So there I was, half pretty much asleep and in the half-asleep / half-out-of-my-mind state this morning, and for whatever reason, two words popped into my head. Adventure.Wiki.

"Hmmm"...says I, and I fall back to sleep. I'm only just now rememberring it.

So I'm thinking, much like ENWorld has had co-operative dungeons created in the past, what about an adventure wiki similar to the NPC wiki? I don't know anything about wikis, and probably wouldn't have much time to commit to it, but it's something I could see happening.

Thoughts?

You know, this is a freakin cool idea....I think there are thousands of pieces of paper flowing around with adventure hooks, campaign ideas and self-made modules in the drawers of all those DMs reading and posting at ENWorld. This content alone would be worth the effort to open such a wiki

Edit: And name it the ENWorlds Wiki :D

The problem with adventure compilations is that adventures are big, while NPCs are small. The way that I think this could work well is as Ashrem hints in his original post: several people contributing to a single adventure. It would be like the co-op dungeons, but with the free ability to modify other people's pieces.

Obviously this would require a lot of trust and flexibility. But it could be oh-so-cool.

Sadly, I don't have time to set this up myself right now (kind of swamped) but if nothing happens with it in the next couple of weeks I might be able to set up a wiki.

Great idea, Ashrem.

Thanks. :)

I imagined them sorted by setting and level. You could start by posting a adventure overview or blank map. Then people could jump on it and go from there.

Maybe take one of WOTC's Map-A-Weeks and use it as a test run?

I suggest setting up a standard module format/template at the beginning.

If a full-blown adventure wiki is too much, it could be an "encounter wiki" (which could have links between encounters to make adventures). Same concept, just a little smaller which makes it more manageable.

For example, I post a "Temple Guardian Room" encounter. Three other people make different tombs, that link from my encounter. From an adventure perspective, PCs finish the "Temple Guardian Room" and go through the door. They end up in a dragon's tomb, or a beholder's tomb, or a giant's tomb. From the tomb, there's a secret trap door under the sarcophogus. It leads to....whatever you link to! :)

That was my thought. Rather than an entire adventure, each page is an encounter. You could "create" adventures with different chains of pages.

Wow. That could be really cool.

Nell.
