Death Duel with the Destroyers and The Island of Doctor Apocalypse for Villains & Vigilantes, written and illustrated by Bill Willingham. It felt like playing through a comic in the best way, which makes sense, given that Willingham went on to have an Eisner-winning career as a writer.
We did a lot with the V&V modules back in the day. Ones that we had particular fun with include:
  • Death Duel with the Destroyers/The Island of Doctor Apocalypse
  • FORCE
  • Assassin
  • Organized Crimes
  • Enter the Dragon's Claw
  • Terror By Night
  • Alone into the Night
  • From the Deeps of Space
Edit: Since you were encouraged to play yourselves but with super powers, I ran From the Deeps of Space as an alien invasion of my little hometown north of Madison. I got out the county plat books, photocopied the area, and made maps with that detailing how far the Capellan beachhead extended and what properties and homes were within the occupation zone. It was guerrilla warfare from there on. The PC heroes managed to get a major Capellan ship disabled so it crashed into the local McDonalds...
