As a DM I always reserve the right to resurrect, recreate or invent family and friends if they aren't included in the backstory. How else am I going to have those heartfelt caring reunions before all the long lost loved ones get slaughtered by the new BBEG that I hadn't figured out a better plot hook for?

I'm sure that's in the DMG. or was it Tasha's. Yeah. If players get to change their subclass, DM's get to change their origins. RADMI (Rules As DM's Intended) Sounds official to me.
