Adventuring while pregnant

Well, that's what I ruled her children would be, anyway. As for her, she started out as a standard human sorcerer. Then she entered the Dragon Disciple PrC; T&B version, this was long before 3.5 came out. As you know, DD makes you become more and more draconic and at level 10 you have -for all intents and purposes- accuired the half-dragon template.

A few levels later, she started on epic progression of DD, becoming even more of a dragon. By now (sor7/DD19/dragon mystic5) she's got the the wing slam attacks, tail slap, she's grown to size Huge and is going steady with a great wyrm... I figure she must be at least 3/4 dragon by now.
Great Wyrm Dragon to PC: "Hey, babe! You got some dragon in you?"

PC: "Err..

Great Wyrm Dragon to PC: "Would you like to?"

*******

Someone had to say it :D

Though I've seen many pcs have children over the years, I've only seen one actively try to have kids. :)

I usually just wing the penalties- using the encumberance rules sounds like a pretty good idea, though. One thing to watch out for is critical hits to the belly... those lead to bad news if you're pregnant.

Son: Mom, I have something to tell you.... I'm Chaotic.
Mother pales then forces a smile: If that makes you happy....

Aeolius (strange alter-ego for someone so interested in the sea; Aeolius is the Keeper of the Four Winds in Greek Mythology), you aren't an oceanographer, are you?

Back when I was in college, I did a paper on Aeolus for a mythology class. I also signed on to AppleLink: Personal Edition (later to become AOL) with the screen name Aeolius (combining Aeolus and Aeolian). I have kept it as my screen name ever since (coming up on 20 years).

As for being an oceanographer, nope. I do have 750+ gallons in saltwater aquariums, though. ;) My undersea campaign began in 1998, as a tropical and aquatic counterpart to the arctic campaign I was already running.

There is a species of nudibrach known as aeolids, though...so I'm in the clear. :D

I don't have a problem with it. The only time it happened in a game I played in it was compelling. (I thought so anyway. The players were all good RPers.) We decided that we were going to kill the big bad guy as soon as possible, tie up any loose threads, then retire from adventuring for a year. We did so but the GM decided that one year turned into twelve years. My character stayed the same (he was a crazy old Gnome and the 'comic relief' of the party. Not very good as adventuring but good at finding information.) Everyone else made new characters and the son that was born from the last game became the party NPC wizard.

Oh sure, it's all well and good until someone slips and falls onto a girdle of femininity/masculinity that some careless sort left laying about.

Don't forget the complications with Eberron Changelings that have been discussed by Keith Baker on the official forums. Essentially, a male changeling can change to a female and get pregnant.

(And, so far as magic goes-- there are some things that can be done... but, wizardry has been outlawed for a LONG time and so, our knowledge is really limited.)
Dang. The few times it's normally happened, we either just dropped into downtime or used magic of some description to deal with it. Spells like GURPS' Transfer Pregnancy and the like. Or just used XX (I forget the herb name; it might have been something that just existed in the GM's world) to exercise the other option you have. Sounds like neither of the first two are an option for you, though you might look into some kind of... I don't know, whatever process is used to create a bag of holding and adapt it to the situation. That might work.

The Book of Erotic Fantasy spares a small sidebar for dealing with pregnancy.

First Trimester: nothing
Second Trimester: Movement reduced by 1/4 (round down), -2 penalty to Dex
Third Trimester: Movement reduced bu 1/2, -4 penalty to Dex, -2 Penalty to Str.
