Advice for the next campaign - Big Evil Race

Ogre magi and their goblin-like slaves, the Bakemono. Seriously.

I mean, who wouldn't be terrified of an organized army of lawful evil large-sized intelligent spell-using ogres?

Easy. Formians. Perfect for invading almost anywhere, and while not evil, they're definiltely pitiless and all about the enslaving of other races. Definitely make sure you have Fiend Folio to grab the other two types of Formian, though.

Cornith,

Only if you want a Planet of the Apes campaign. :p :)

Kunimatyu,

Eh still think if you like lawful pityless types, Mind Flayers and Aboleths rule that domain pretty well.

Y-eah, Mind Flayers are *kEwL* and all, but as a race, I feel they are horribly over-used. Them, and Drow. You might as well make a race of brain-eating drow... or two-handed fighting style squid-faces. At least that'll keep 'em guessing.

Still, you can't be too un-scared of a whole front line of cone of cold. :)

Well, change the flavor text slightly and you could use evil outsiders. You could run with this if you like; it may take a while for the players to realize that the gameworld is actually set on one of the levels of the Abyss...

Particle,

eh I think since he's used Rakasha, he's not interested in evil outsiders, in or out of the Abyss.

Herobizkit,

Uhm maybe over used but not sure about HORRIBLY over used. The fact is this: Mind Flayers use a lot of thralls to dish out the badness, while standing back and using either psionics or spells. (Most favoring arcane than divine.) Sound likes typical D&D party tactics to me. And then there are half illithids variants that can also be more disturbing than fun. But then that's just me.

I just don't see how Mind Flayers are over-used... I mean, if they were occuring too often in your campaign, wouldn't you... stop using them? Sure, they're used in a lot of modules - but that doesn't mean players have been over-exposed to them.
