AEG specifically not talkin' 'bout SG1 for now...

First Post
Saw this over at the AEG Stargate boards...

At this time, AEG cannot comment publicly or privately on the status of the Stargate SG-1 RPG line, nor about it’s negotiations, so please do not ask. An announcement will be made as soon as we are able to say anything, but until then please stop from posting questions, as our hands are tied and we cannot answer them.

If you do go ahead and post, I will not delete the thread, I will simply lock it and respond and point you to the FAQ and this announcement stating our official response.

As soon as we are able to tell you something, we will tell you, do not worry.

Thank you for being so understanding during this trying time.

Alas, this is another case of license comfuggery - much like the word 'comfuggery', it makes little sense and looks confusing as hell. I truly feel bad for the great guys at AEG for having this particular cup of hot coffee dropped in their laps. :(

Well, there are some pretty good products out and plenty to runa game with. Hopefully it all gets worked out for the best soon.

the company that owns the liscense got bought out by a bigger company, and when that happens all liscenses get undone and need to be reworked.

Keeping in mind that I am but a simple unfrozen caveman freelancer and not privy to the inner workings of the AEG business deal, I believe that when Sony began negotiating to buy MGM it froze all MGM-related licenses, and until the purchase is complete and all rights issues are dealt with then the entire line is in limbo. Now, keep in mind, that's mostly hearsay, but it makes sense.

Ah.

So, do you think Sony would be more lenient to grant a James Bond 007 RPG license?

Hmm, that would be curious...I am guessing that since the Broccolli family has such huge control over the films, despite MGM "owning" Bond, that my guess is that the RPG would never happen and would be a friggan nightmare to work with.
