(AEG) Warlords Of The Accordlands questions

Greatwyrm

Been here a while...
Okay, I've been doing a little digging and I have some questions about this project. I'll admit, like some others, I poked a bit of fun at the idea of something as large as what was announced. However, I am interested and ask these questions in all seriousness.

In regards to Warlords Of The Accordlands:

1. Do you plan on making this d20 or stand-alone OGL?

2. If d20, how compatible with current materials will it be (e.g. compatible like Rokugan or compatible like Everquest)?

3. If d20, are you planning on 3.0 rules or 3.5?

4. Four $40 books is a lot of investment. What level of production values are we looking at? Will these be the full-scale slick productions, like Rokugan and Spycraft, or a bit more scaled back, like the "one word" series?

5. I am totally unfamiliar with the Warlord card game. What are some of the core themes that would draw people to this setting?

6. I know this is pretty far out for release estimates, but roughly, how long to you expect to take between releases? For example, if I get the Master Codex on release day, how long before I'll be able to see the atlas, then the monsters, then the adventure book? I certainly don't expect actual dates, but a rough guesstimate of 4-6 weeks, 2 months, whatever between titles would be great.

7. Do you have any plans for previews online, in Dragon, or in Polyhedron?

My advanced gratitude for any information you care to provide.

Oh yea, the press release...

Okay, here we go.

Alright, I see at the very end they're making sure it's 3.5 compatible. So I guess that answers at least question #3.

"The books are four-color of course, have more maps than you can shake a staff at..."

That leads me to believe #4's answer is more like Rokugan and Spycraft as far as production values.

It does say they're being "simultaneously developed", but I didn't see they'd be released that way, too.

I guess that narrows it mostly down to questions 5 - 7. Guess I didn't look hard enough in the beginning.

You can always poste on the Alderac forums, as well, or message lists. But, as for 5. It is a very interesting world. There are demons coming from below, that the dwarves fend off. The humans are Deverians, which are an evil fuedal state, lets see, the elves tend to necromancy, and evilness. The Nogroth are your classic orcs, with some other races. It is a more of a strife based world. You can check out the book Assassin strike, that came out when the card expansion came out, or there is a lot of fiction on the warlordccg.com web page, to really get a feel for the world.

I know that I am really looking forward to this book, as is pretty much everyone in one of my D&D games. We will probably run with it, since it really fits into classic D&D for style, but with a whole new world.

OGL

More like Rokugan - we have too many OGL purist working on this thing to do anything else

3. If d20, are you planning on 3.0 rules or 3.5?

For what we can that applies we will be making it as 3.5 as possible.

4. Four $40 books is a lot of investment. What level of production values are we looking at? Will these be the full-scale slick productions, like Rokugan and Spycraft, or a bit more scaled back, like the "one word" series?

3 books will be 300 pages, full colour top notch graphics and so on. Our maps are truely some of the best in the industry. The forth book is Black and white, but larger. This is the campaign book and we want to print it on something that could be written on, thus we went with standard paper. We make sure you get your money's worth with this product!

5. I am totally unfamiliar with the Warlord card game. What are some of the core themes that would draw people to this setting?

Its a real dark setting - with hope in small doses. Feels like darksun - looks like Dragonlance...

6. I know this is pretty far out for release estimates, but roughly, how long to you expect to take between releases? Lets say that you will not have to wait long. All of the books are being produced at the same time and there are a couple of plans on the table. I will not be longer than a month between books, but it maybe drastically shorter.

7. Do you have any plans for previews online, in Dragon, or in Polyhedron?

We do have preview adventures and similar early release text planned, but a lot of that is not set in stone yet - so I cannopt make any promises.... sorry mate.

My advanced gratitude for any information you care to provide.

Thanks for Asking

This is not a troll.

8. Have you considered changing the name? There was a poll conducted in the General forum recently which was overwhelmingly NOT in favor of the chosen name for the setting. Is "Warlords of the Accordlands" set in stone?

I really do appreciate you posting answers here, Erik. I'm really interested in this risky undertaking of yours and I hope it succeeds, I'm just put off by the name and I fear others are as well.

I repeat - This is not a troll.

I'm already intrigued by the release strategy (all at once -- great idea!), the size and promised quality of the books and the little I've heard about the setting -- but this statement really raises my interest level. That's a great way to put it without revealing too much. Color me interested. :)

(Edit: what's a rasies? I don't know, so I changed it to "raises.")
