...Because I just bought the last one at my local game shop, hehe! :p

This is one gorgeous book, loaded with plenty of "yoinkable" things you can steal for your D&D campaign or any d20 game, for that matter. I haven't read through it all yet, but so far, in the immortal words of Freddy Prinze (Sr., on 70s super hit sitcom "Chico And The Man"), Spycraft is "lookin' good!"

Seriously, nice value for $34.95 hardcover. The yoinkable things off the top of my head are skills, feats, "departments" (races), and backgrounds. Backgrounds are purchased at character creation with skill points. The more points you put in (1-5), the more your background influences your life. Backgrounds are a lot like GURPS allies, enemies and dependents... You get an XP bonus everytime they show up and you deal with them, from helping Aunt May across the street to trading lead with Lefty McFink and the Apple Dumpling Gang, or Cobra Command, or Osama bin Laden... LOL. Seems like an interesting way to reward the players for coming up with fleshed-out PC backgrounds that the DM can use as springboards for adventures or just to mess with the players. Have to study it further, but looks neat at first glance.

Bad Kaptain_Kantrip! Bad!
I believed you were saying true! I was scared :(

So you like your Spycraft, don't you? Tell us more, please!

I tried implementing the action dice in my D&D game last night and no one used them except me (and only once). We were afraid of using them up too fast, LOL. But the one time I did use them it bumped my AC (Defense in Spycraft) by 1 point, negating the hit by the gnoll's battleaxe, thereby saving my life, as I only had a few HP left! So, I really like the Action Dice concept! :)

As I had my D&D game to prepare for, I have had no time to read the rest of the Spycraft book. Will post more later. In another thread on this game, someone said it couldn't be used very well for a modern fantasy game setting. I don't understand why not! It would take a little fixin' (and the Shadowforce Archer supplement withe the crazy psionics and bionics stuff in it, possibly addresses some of these issues). A copy of Pulp Heroes or Shadowchasers from the last two Dungeon mags would also be helpful, as the races/departments are geared for spies. Spelljammer d20 (in the next Dungeon) or Dragonstar from FFG would also be useful resources. So, yes, it would take more work to try modern fantasy with just Spycraft and D&D, but it's not impossible.
