Afflicted Lycanthropes and Involuntary Change

To what forms does the involuntary change that afflicted lycanthropes must undergo when do lose a quarter of their hit points apply?

1. All the forms?
2. Only the original and hybrid form?
3. Only the original form.

Most of the text seems to be written from the perspective of the lycanthrope wanting to keep or return to its original form, but it also seems to imply that you have to shift to animal form when damaged in hybrid form. What do the rules intend?

For you to get cured as soon as possible.

Upon review of the MM3.5, I'm going to guess that so long as you're not in animal form, an involuntary change will send you into animal form, even if you're in hybrid form. Even if it'll put you in a disadvantageous position.
