Age of Worms H/C - unlikely :(

Ari,

Okay well see that's different. I just figured...things could be worked out about WotC leaving Hasbro...or something.

I think WOTC going independant of Hasbro is perfectly feasible, but also rather unlikely unless a very rich knight in shining armour rides by :D

A managment buy out of the company could take it independant (assuming WOTC are happy to sell - and even then a decision based on the offer received) - and there are plenty of external investment groups, companies, funds and organisations (internationally and in the US) that are always looking for such opportunities.

BUT, investors will be looking for a return on their capital, and a pitch that taking the company independant will allow the management to focus on lower profit margins and lower returns on investment is unlikely, IMHO, to be a particularly attractive draw for potential investors.

You help me pillage Bill Gates' money, I think we're in business. ;)
Pillage?

Heck no, we just need to ask to borrow his money for about 15 minutes - the interest it earns in that time will be more than enough to buy out WOTC :)

Now then, next question, does anyone have an e-mail for Bill? He never replies from the one that I use to let him know each time Windows crashes :p

I've long been kind of curious as to why Hasbro hasn't used its WotC ties to produce D&D action figures. With the action figures available today, could you imagine what all those LJN characters might look like? :)

There was a vague reference at DDXP how WOTC wants to avoid making D&D look like a game for little kiddies. They want to keep it somewhat edgy, not look like pokemon.

The significant quantity of adult action fig collectors means that that might not be a significant issue though

While a nice hardcover would be, er, nice, I sort of think AoW needs a hardcover less. It'd be mostly a convenience and aesthetics factor for me.

Shackled City fit together a little rough and sort of needed a bit of rework.

By the time they got around to doing AoW, their pre-planning was a bit tighter and they had a little experience under their belt at doing long adventure paths from doing SC.

Psion,

True but there's a lot to be said for convenience. Especially considering the amount of material that is spread between Dungeon, the online articles and especially Dragon Wormfood.

Some people also would like to save money. ;) Not that I'm one, (I have all the articles for everything Age of Worms) but some others might not.

Heiro,

One would think that would be so, as you said with adult action figures.

That's true. After all, it started 3E and ended 3.5. That definitely qualifies as "needs a bit of rework."

Olaf,

How can WotC be sued by themselves?! Hasbro sure, but WotC sued by WotC? That just...illogical in the extreme.

Who says everyone in WotC is happy with Hasbro? That's just management that doesn't care about quality, just quantity. :p

Whoops, I meant to say WotC sued by Hasbro, not itself. :heh: :o
