"Age of Worms" Hardcover?

In fact, although I'm pleased to see the success of the SC hardcover, I think it's a big mistake.

Because it was released, it's became a pretty strong incentive *not* to buy Dungeon magazine. Why bother, when you can pick up the major adventure later, cleaned up and with additional material?
I don't think AoW will need quite as much cleaning as SC did, but the flip side is that I think SC really used up a lot of resources for Paizo, and some other stuff might have suffered for it.

Either way, I doubt Paizo can comment too much about their dealings with WotC.

I do wonder if the increased Greyhawk presence may also be a factor, though most people think it's because WotC fears it will impact their own mega-adventures.

95%? Just to know, the adventure path's eat up a huge percentage of the page counts in Dungeon while its running. In fact, I'd consider recommending anyone not buy Dungeon while an AP is running if they have no interest in the AP at all given that percentage. IIRC, the Age of Worms took up half of the first issue it appeared in, and usually takes up at least 1/3 of the issue. It's only 1 of 3 adventures in each magazine, but almost always gets more space than the other adventures (there are a few exceptions).

Especially considering a subscription with 12 issues is $38.95, you get the AoW stuff plus another big batch of adventures. Sure it's not all in one book, which would be more durable, but it's also more accessible.

Until we get the license to do a hardcover Age of Worms from Wizards, we can't start working on it. And it'll take many, many months to get into stores once we DO start working on it. So for now, and for the foreseeable future, the only place to get Age of Worms is by picking up issues #124–#135 of Dungeon.

Even at a hefty price, the Shackled City hardcover sold quite well. It's not as brisk a seller as the Dragon Compendium, but it's certainly a success, and both of these books have certainly encouraged us to do more hardcover game products. As for the Age of Worms hardcover, I'm not going to lay out all the gory details, but yes; it's something we've been pursuing for quite some time now, and it's something we'll continue to pursue.

Any chance an online poll/petition would help WotC to approve hte project? I'd certainly buy at least one copy of the book, given all of the Greyhawk goodness to be crammed between its covers :D

Allan.
I doubt an online poll will do anything, and a petition would probably backfire. Then again, I might just be in a cynical mood about the subject. Who knows?

Age of Worms can be found in issues #124–#135 of Dungeon; it ran without break over the course of 12 issues. For the foreseable future, this is the only place you'll be able to get the campaign. If we get the approval to produce a hardcover version and if we have the resources in place to do so when we DO get approval... it'll still probably be at least a year before the product sees the light of day.

So for now (and the rest of 2006 and most of 2007), the magazine incarnation of Age of Worms is it. Fortunately, I believe we have a LOT of issues of these 12 down in the warehouse for order on this website.

We'd love to print Age of Worms as a campaign... but at this time we have no plans to do so. Before we can print it as a book or boxed set, we need permission from Wizards of the Coast to go ahead with the project and we need the manpower and time and resources to put it together. At this point, none of these factors are ready to go, so there certainly won't be any Age of Worms products this year.

And as for a boxed set... I shudder to think what we'd have to charge for one that does the campaign justice. I'm not sure the world of D&D is ready for a $200 product...

I've skipped a handful of posts that basically reiterate information posted above ("Yes, we've submitted it to WotC," "WotC has not approved it," "We will keep submitting it").

I would pick up the AoW Hardcover in a heartbeat... and I have all but the last two Dungeon versions (which I think I can still find fairly easily).

I have the entire SC in Dungeon, and still bought the Hardcover.

I don't think I am alone in this.

I would love to see an AoW hardcover... to buy all the Dungeon issues would cost roughly $90; if they were consolidated into a hardcover book for around $60 it would be MUCH more affordable than $90

I'm really only interested in it as a Hardcover. I don't get dungeon and just buying it all only for this adventure path is not worth it to me. Hopefully it will get worked out!! :D

I think Monte has laid down a few paving stones on that road...

But he said Dragon, not Dungeon. And though Wormfood is more than 5% of the magazine, it's only a few pages of each mag. I'd agree (and once did) but the new Class acts, Demonomicon, Core Beliefs and the comics are an even better reason to get Dragon than the AP crossovers (even though I run AoW and play in ST).

I got a subscription to Dungeon expressly for the AoW AP, and I'm maintaining it for Crimson Tide. That said, I'd be very likely to pick up the hardcover for AoW. The magazines give it to me now, but the hardcover gives it to me for my collection -- just like all the 1E stuff I've still got around.

I'm in a similar position to you Drowbane. I'd buy the AoW HC if it came out.

I too had the entire SCAP adventures from Dungeon magazine but still got the big book. Firstly because it gave me everything in the one place. Secondly because they cleaned a lot of it up and linked everything together more tightly.

I don't however have any of the AoW Dungeon adventures as I let my subscription lapse. So for me the HC would be the best option rather than spending $90 on all the Dungeon issues and then still not having any of the Dragon Wormfood articles.
