Age of Worms - Kudos

Sholari

First Post
I just got done reading the beginning adventure for Dungeon's Age of Worms and the Diamond Lake backdrop. I must say that I am beyond impressed. I don't want to give away anything for any potential players that might read this. What I can say is that the Whispering Cairn adventure is just dripping with asthetical detail. The setting is both very unique compared to anything else I've seen before, but at the same time very easy to integrate into any campaign world. The town backdrop is politically complex and very well thought out.

Erik, you guys have really hit this one out of the park. Kudos to you and your staff.

I have to agree, Erik. You did a damn nice job with the intro module. Before I read it, I thought "eh, another Adventure Path. I'll see if I want to steal NPCs from it." After reading the Whispering Cairn, the next day I started a group running it. The module is detailed to an extreme and Diamond Lake is a great little town. I have to say my favorite part of the module is Filge. Creepiest necromancer I've seen published yet. The table scene gave me chills in full daylight.

Good work.

Demiurge out.

Chalk me in as well. I don't normally buy Dungeon but after reading the first part, I will be definately be picking up the rest of this Adventure Path.

ditto from me! Im a subscriber anyway, so its not like I could avoid getting it, but ill be looking forward to sending my players through it.

I will use some caution this time around, and I will wait until about three or four have been published. Last time around, I got lost without enough support and forshadowing. I found that I either gave some things away that I shouldn't have or allowed them a little more exploratoin that screwed up some future installments as written. Im hopeful that waiting a little bit into things will ease up on that, but as far as the Whispering Cairn goes, wow. Great great detail and exciting backdrop. The lantern room had a real "Goonies" feel to it. well, without the excessive danger lol.

I've still got a few stories to tell in my homebrew, so not starting right away (if at all). Whispering Cairn looks good, though perhaps a bit much for starting characters right out of the gate. It does have rest spots, but some of the situations look a bit too dangerous IMO.

Diamond Lake is a neat location, but I would have liked it a bit more generic and less flavorful, which I know sounds odd, but would have allowed me to insert it easier.

The Whispering Cairn reminded me strongly of The Mud Sorceror's Tomb. Except it had better feel and a much stronger setting and more believable dungeon.

And yes: except The Mud Sorceror's Tomb was not as good as The Whispering Cairn. Bravo Eric.

I don't know how well the Age of Worms will turn out. It may be great - it may not be; however, what is clear from Dungeon #124 is that if things go off the rails it won't be because of a poor beginning.

This was a really great read. I eagerly await the next installment

Looking forward to picking this up... when it finally makes it's way over to my neck of the woods. Better than Mud Sorcerer's Tomb, 'eh? Intruiged indeed...

I am glad to say you guys are improving with each issue. The stories and games are getting better and better.

If I didn't already have a sunscription I would begin now.

Another vote of "wow!". I liked the first adventure path a lot, but the attention to detail in this first chapter of "Age of Worms" is just great.

I plan on running this one with my Sunday group starting in July (after Origins). By then, part 2 will be out, and I'll have enough to (hopefully) get through the summer.
