Ah, the joys of the post

As of a few months ago, I became a subscriber to Dragon and Dungeon magazines. My impetus was two-fold. (Impetii?): The promotional Sorcerer on Black Dragon, and the impending closure of my FLGS. (As it turned out, I still have a LGS, but the F has dropped off so...)

I just received Dungeon issue #139 in the post. That means it took about 10 weeks to get to me from when it shipped.

However, and this is the weird bit, issue #140 arrived four weeks ago, taking a mere 4 weeks to reach me.

I've not yet seen Dragon #347, #348, or #349 which have been in-transit for 14, 10 and 6 weeks respectively. I'm a bit worried about #347, but it might surprise me and turn up.

Hmm.

Cheers!

LOL

Irregularities and long shipment times are principally what drove me to abandon my subscription. Granted, the extreme high costs involved in an overseas subscription didn't help...

Even with the high costs of the overseas subscription, it is still about half the cost of buying them from my LGS or newsagent!

However, the reliability is a big issue. I am likely to get very, very snarky if there are any more subscriber-only offers.

Merric have you contacted Paizo's CustServ department? From what I hear from the people over at their boards they are very helpful and will re-send issues that don't arrive.

I have the same problem here in Argentina. I've been a suscriber to Dungeon for two years (and renewed very recently) and learnt that it takes about two to three months to arrive. You just have to have patience until your first magazine arrives, but then it comes steadily one a month (albeit, of course, you could end having it one month later than your LGS...)

I reaaly don't care that much how long it takes, as long as it finally arrives. And yes, eventually, it arrives.

Hope that helps!

They are extremely good about re-sending.

In the end I had two copies of some magazines because the original one turned up eventually.

However, I still didn't renew my subscription because of the crushing disappointment of magazines being late, especially on those occasions when my local FLGS got theirs weeks before I got mine.

I know CustServ will send out issues that don't arrive... I just don't know if they won't arrive yet.

Cheers!

I've requested two issue resends after having to wait for 8 weeks for it to come to the west coast of Canada. The subscription mags managed to make it before the replacements in the end so I am not going to bother and just accept that they might be late. Of course just as I come to that conclusion shipping times pick up and I'm down to under 4 weeks.

Yeah, the subscription service even in the states leaves much for some, like Dialgo, wondering "WFT".

Me? I've rarely had any problems with it.

I just had to have them re-send the most recent issue. My FLGS had it for two weeks before I asked for another issue. I don't know how Paizo ship their stuff, but they need to do something to improve their speed and reliabilty. It really makes me consider letting my subscription run out and buying it from my FLGS. It might be more expensive, but it will mean at lot less waiting on my part.
