I know, but strangely the wording in the SRD have changed.

[shrug] I've always seen it as being sort of like the Webster's and Oxford Dictionaries.

Webster's is a handy resource if the Oxford isn't available, but ultimately meaningless if Oxford contradicts it.

Any time the SRD differs from the Core Rules, I know which I consider authoritative.

"The System Reference Document is a comprehensive toolbox consisting of rules, races, [etc] and monsters compatible with the d20 System version of Dungeons & Dragons and various other roleplaying games from Wizards of the Coast. "

The SRD rules are compatible with Dungeons and Dragons; they're not the rules of Dungeons and Dragons.

The rules of D&D are found in the D&D Core Rules.
