Ok.

I'll be more blunt than Tsyr: "Take it private and shut up."

You two (I think it's just the two of you, yes?) really *are* running very close to getting this thread locked, despite trying to cover it with in-game elements. Mods aren't dummies, they're still going to notice it. Take the conversation elsewhere, please.

To take a step beyond this, isn't this completely off topic? Wasn't this thread about CN and it's specific results when players play it as crazy?

CN is Insane did I get that memo?

Chaotic Neutral is not insane (insanity could inflict any alignment). I must admit that I don't play CN very well; I suppose it play it more like NE where the individual is out for his/her own gain without restriction of laws.

According to the SRD, Chaotic Neutral is a free spirit, "He is an individualist first and last. He values his own liberty but doesn’t strive to protect others’ freedom." Maybe it's just me but I have a hard time conceptualizing that kind of character. Anyone have an example for me?

((as an aside, I think most people are either Neutral Good or Neutral. Insitutions are more Lawful Neutral))

IMC, Chaotic Good people don't hate government, they just see it as being there to ensure the rights of the individual. Chaotic people IMC are individualists.

Government IMC is neither inherently pro- or anti- individuality. Specific governments can be one or the other, but so can many non-governmental organizations -- religions, guilds, etc. can all restrict or promote individuality. Thus, Chaotic people are pro- or anti- these non-governmental organizations just like they're pro- or anti- specific governments, on a case by case basis.

Some specific examples IMC:

Chaotic Good: would sacrifice self for specific loved person
Lawful Good: would sacrifice self for organization

Chaotic Neutral: would turn in thief for revenge
Lawful Neutral: would turn in thief on principle

Chaotic Evil: would kill for personal power
Lawful Evil: would kill for organization's power

Most people don't want to be taxed.

CHAOTIC people don't mind being taxed (so long as it goes to enforce individual freedoms).

CHAOTIC STUPID people think that government is inherently morally wrong, and that with no government, they would be free.

LAWFUL people don't mind being taxed (so long as it goes to support their agenda).

LAWFUL STUPID people think that government (or any particular organization) is inherently morally right, and that it can do no wrong, since it's better than chaos.

It's fine that you're Chaotic (said the Neutral Good guy), but don't assume the rest of us are.

You quoted my response to Dark Jezter, genius.

Problem Set: Proving that ByronD is not Dark Jezter is left as an exercise for the reader.

I consider this assessment to be about as flawed and oversimplified as any other comparison of D&D alignment to the real world.

Oh, no doubt -- it is an oversimplification. It's just one that does not agree with your oversimplification.

And, since it's how things work IMC with regard to CN characters -- there's one in my current campaign, so I have some experience in the area -- it's actually on-topic!!!1!1!oneoneone

?????

Your original post was a reply to Dark Jezter. True.
How that leads to unsubstantiated insults when I quote a comment you made in post in which you DID directly quote and respond to me is quite puzzling.

Then setting up a TRULY absurd red herring assertion that I may be using multiple identies is a laughable desperate effort to change the subject. Quite sad actually.

I had two identies: BryonD and Axiomatic Unicorn. I rarely, if ever use the second anymore.
