Aleph (College of Magic)?

Has anyone used Aleph (or a similar "ancient magic language") in their 3E campaigns? Aleph was the "language of the ancients" in College of Magic (2E- great supplement, by the way); a wizard character could take Aleph I (using four proficiency slots!!!!) to get what are essentially metamagic feats. I've been wanting to convert this concept into 3E, but was wondering if anyone else had seen/done anything similar? I think a side campaign where the PCs are seeking various pieces of the language could be a blast...

See the 'Metamagic feats' in the PHB.

You could make learning Aleph a requirement for gaining metamagic feats, or just as flavour; eg the casters add a few words of Aleph when casting a metamagic spell.
