Spoilers Alien: Earth Spoiler Thread

So one thing we've been wondering is that if these synthetics are superpowered beings who can defeat a xenomorph in one-on-one combat, why didn't Bishop help out a bit more? Also, I guess, see David and Walter, both also superpowered.

My current theory is these are expensive synthetics, and Ash and Bishop, although they come later, are cheap mass-produced synthetics. Though that doesn't explain David and Walter, who came years before.

(I'm operating here in the assumption that main difference between a synthetic and a hybrid is simply that one has a human consciousness transferred into it, and the other does not--the physical capabilities of the hybrids and David/Walter are pretty similar).

I assume Kirsh has David/Walter capabilities rather than Ash/Bishop.

Yeah this one might go from sci-fi to sci-fantasy pretty fast. So we have already determined that she is in fact "hearing" frequencies, they even noted the frequencies where her hearing picked it up.

There should be no reason they couldn't use another sound recorder in the same frequency range to pick up on the sound. So unless they are going with "aliens have telepathy"....I'm not sure what to make of it.
Yeah, I was a bit confused by that. If it's literally just that she can hear that frequency and humans (and the other synthetics) can't, presumably another machine could. Unless it is weird robot telepathy, in which case, what do frequencies and audio circuits have to do with anything?

LOVE the show so far, but ep 4 was a bit of a letdown. So was ep 3, frankly. That second episode was some of the most thrilling, eye-watering sci-fi action in TV history, IMO. I've watched it four times already!

Just love this show so much!

David and Walter were made by Weyland. They're the synthetic equivalents of superyachts, much like the Prometheus itself. It would be remarkable if Ash, Bishop or Rook had similar capabilities.

Since he's part of Boy Kavalier's inner circle, I think that's a good assumption.

That's certainly a hypothesis similar to mine. It's also certainly not a fact in the show or movies though.

The alternative hypothesis is, of course, continuity issues. Which is probably equally likely.

They were having to tune each hybrid manually, I believe. It could well be that these are all bespoke units at this point and Wendy's hearing was either tuned differently or she had different parts installed.

I suspect we will get this question followed up on very quickly, as Boy Kavalier will 100% want to be able to talk to xenos once he knows it's possible. And while Kirsh might keep it from him, I could also see him be willing to let Boy Kavalier get himself killed by playing around with Radio Xeno.

The show wants us to ask, “Who are the aliens/monsters on Earth, the xenomorphs or the various posthumans?”. So the show has been blurring the lines between them. I think that explains why Wendy can go mano a mano against a xenomorph and win.

Consider the latest episode: Nibs leaps across a room and looms over Sylvia as if she’s about to reveal her second set of jaws, Kirsch and Sheep Eye regarding each other as… equals? As each other’s lab experiments?
