Alien forms of gameplay/game design you've encountered?

Seems like a solid strategy. Is there counterplay?
Being the first to drop a nuke renders it no longer meaningful. But, generally, the solution is a joint blitzkrieg against the homeland by all the other players. If you win, you get to argue over the supply center and its nuke; if you lose, they're going to drop it.
 

I once had a player obsessed with playing a weird solo game in the normal game. So his wizard was trying to make a reality altering item....in the players mind. Not in the game at all, just in the players solo game. So the player takes time and effort to like 'collect diamonds or something" for their magic item that utterly does not exist in the game

Even more bizarre was the guy that wanted to play a game based on some anime? So he wanted to RP a young girl monk that...um..tagged along with a powerful NPC monk guy. She would be "in love", but he treats her like a little sister. So the player wanted to sit back and watch the DM play the NPC guy....while they watched. And every so often helped out in secret (like Penny on Inspector Gadget, I guess).
