That was a much better trailer than the pervious ones. I think I will have to check this out at a matinee maybe.

Yucko. If I see one more movie/book/tv show that begins with the postulation that "aliens built the pyramids" I'm going to start taking hostages.

Bunch of no-name actors in a contrived setup that breaks previous continuity? This has hack-job written all over it.

Yes, because there are so many other original ways to have aliens be on earth.

Good point, especially because the Alien and Predator movies were always dependent on big name, all-star casts.

The first two Predator movies didn't need anything so "Chariots of the Gods"-esque. They're hunters. They travel to where the prey is. Easy enough. And Aliens just shouldn't be on Earth, PERIOD.

I'll spot you that Sigourney Weaver wasn't exactly a household name in 1979. But Tom Skerritt was an established actor, Yaphet Kotto had been the bad guy in "Live and Let Die", and Ian Holm was a member of the frickin' Royal Shakespeare Company.

And as for Predator, what, Arnold Schwarzenegger not "big name" enough for you? Danny Glover's nothing to sneeze at either; he'd just come off Lethal Weapon II when he made Predator II in 1990.

I'm sorry, but this whole project is coming off like a cheapo cash-in rather than the film fans have been clamoring for for years now.

I'm not arguing against the notion that AVP is a cheapo cash-in. But I do find it odd that people are SURPRISED. The last two (or at least one and a half) Alien pictures were nothing more. It's hard to make a case for Predator II (which I rather like) being anything but.

These franchises are worn out. We're just lucky it's not Aliens Versus Predator Versus Yahoo Serious. I'll take my cheesy sci-fi where I can get it, thanks anyway.

People still clinging to the hope of a GOOD Alien or Predator movie are inspiring, I'll say that much. Hope, human breast, eternal, and all that.

To go slightly off topic, what do people think of Alien 3. Personally I love it. Granted it is an entirely different type of film to the others, but that is the beauty of the alien saga, each film was directed by different and equally talented directors (not sure whether to include Luc Besson as I have seen little else of his).
It isnt scary, and theres not much action, but I find the characters, dialogue and setting to be riveting. This film is definately artistic, which is probably why not many people liked it, but I think that overall it had more effect on me than the other films. Theres something about that I cant be bothered explaining, but its just so damn human.
