Alien vs Predator trailer

No, you see, the trailer looks alright... that's the deviousness behind it. But then it hits you with the full force of a Huge quicksilver-filled greatsword - the director is Paul W.S. "not P.T." Anderson. The movie can only suck.

And based on that, people are predicting the movie is gonna suck?

I can't speak for everyone else, but .... no, not based on that. I base my expectations that its going to suck mostly on what I've heard the story plot is about. However, even then I was still optimistic. I was thinking, " well, it may still manage to be cool despite my distaste for its premise...."

Then I also heard about certain things from the set through friends of friends that work in the industry. None of it was too.....nice......

[note: which again, like I said....could be nothing or could be something. Sometimes people just complain on a set when things get rough. And things will always get rough on a set. Or sometimes they complain because truly...things have gone totally south...... :)]

Still, it may still be okay. But I doubt it more and more as time goes by.

And there yah go.

Actually, to be fair....in Anderson's defence, I personally don't find any of his movies to suck too much. None of them suck as bad as "Dreamcatcher" or "Musketeer". But then, none of them are excellent either. He's like a student that always gets a " C- " grade. Okay, sometimes a "D+" ( as with the movie "Soldier" ).

I wonder, is it fair to say that? After all, he didn't write the scripts of the movies he's directed. Actually, I do blame him...ha ha ha.....I found "Soldier" to be a pretty good script and his excecution of that script....to be rather poor.

I figure AVP will end up around the same realm as "Resident Evil". That's what I'm expecting. And to be clear....not based on the trailer. Just what info has been released about the film.

I'm sure they're going to have a scene where
a facehugger infects a Predator, and you have the ultimate predator, the alien-predator mix... ;)

Heh, spoiler tags from a trailer...that's kind of funny.

I agree (though I haven't seen the trailer, so I can't comment on it).

I hate going into movies with all sorts of expectations. I like to go in with a blank slate, and it is what it is. Maybe it will be great, maybe not. No sense getting all upset about it.

Now a movie that I DO have high hopes for, notwithstanding the above, is Ender's Game! Great director, and the writer of the book is writing the script (with help from others).

Ah I'm not alone. I do however have the deficit of only seeing about the first 30 minutes of the second film.

For myself, I'm going to pay to see this with an exceptional low outlook. This way, I won't be too dissappointed if it blows corn nuts and very relieved if it's decent.

Crichton: Corn nuts are a type of food that is generally available at movie theaters.

********

Everyone else: What IS the plot supposed to be? So far, all I know is (1) it has Aliens, (2) it has Predators, and (3) at some point, the movie takes place on Earth.

That's it. There's got to be more known, right?

Really? Do they go by another name, too?

I'm sure there is a script review somewhere. Check IGN.com and aintitcool.com if you really want to know. But honestly, does it really matter what the plot is? All I really want to see is the 2 races fight each other. For a really long time. ;)
