Aliens: Game Over

Holy crap! And you DELETED that post? Why man, WHY?!

Because the original post was overlong. I intended to condense it into something readable, but then got preoccupied with other things.

I wouldn't mind at all. I should state though, that I'd be extremely leery of taking someone else's work that was official and then using it in the semi-questionable d20 capacity. I.e., I'd hate to use something claiming it's the "real RPG" as a source, only to have a real RPG come out later and be seriously pissed about leaking a rough draft. But if you feel it's legit -- or conversely, if you feel it's seriously not legit -- send me a PM and let's talk. :)

Well, it looks like you will have to email me to get in touch, as the ENWorld forums for some reason will not let me send private messages. You can get the address off my user profile. Regarding the status of the "official" RPG, I believe the project was legitimate from my reading of the memo and discussions with the author, but it was abandoned as long ago as 1996, so I don't think any of the content will ever see publication.

Aliens: Game Over (v 0.3)

After reading the Genocide comic, I added the following to Aliens: Game Over:
* Xeno-Zip effects (woohoo!)
* Neo-Pharm Employee
* Z-110 Acid Neutralizing Combat Wardrobe

You can pick up the latest version of Aliens: Game Over at http://michael.tresca.net under Freebies.

Talien, I've been stunned by your work before, but this one blew me away! I thought I was pretty knowledgable about the Aliens, but this showed me just how little I knew!

A few things I wanted to ask: in the second book in the novel trilogy, General Spears (I think that was his name) recalls that, when isolated, a lone drone Alien can undergo a "hormone storm" and become a queen. No mention of that is given here.

Also, it might be me, but I cant seem to find anything in there about how sometimes unwanted mutations arise in the otherwise-normal breeding process, and that "normal" Aliens war with these mutations...such as the "Red Aliens" that were in the novel Genocide (I think it was that one).

I talked with a friend of mine, who is a much larger Alien-phile, about your work, and he graciously pointed out this site to me as being a huge repository of information: http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Corridor/3119/ take a look through here and see if there is anything useful to add to A:GO. Keep up the great work!

Woohoo, thanks!

Hmm, I knew this after doing a lot of research, but didn't realize it wasn't included. I'll add it.

Another good point.

The Anchorpoint essays were a must read before I dug into the game. You'll see I referenced them under the Web site section as well. Great stuff!

Arkham

Realise that you posted like months ago, but wondered whether you still have that aliens memo?

I've heard rumours of the Brimmicomble-Wood Aliens RPG and would be really keen to see something on it if at all possible... Trying to write my own aliens RPG but it's hard not to rely on the Brimmicombe tech manual - it's basically become part of the aliens universe.

Thanks in advance for any help

Role Play Games

Just to clear up some rumors, I have not been asked to consult on a roleplay game. (People may have considered it, but if they have they've yet to contact me.) I was a consultant and designer on Rebellion's Aliens vs. Predator game title, but that's as far as it goes.

For the record, the Aliens: Technical Manual began life as a rolegame supplement and some of the original material (now long lost) had GURPS stats. This was not any kind of official project; just something I was putting together for a group of friends using the then in-vogue GURPS rules. Later, I adapted this material for Dark Horse International's Aliens Magazine. Those pieces eventually grew into the book project.

Thank you for the clarification. The individual who sent me the file all those years ago suggested that the project had been official and that you had contributed in some way. I was never certain, however, which is why I qualified my original post with words like "purported" and "supposedly". Sorry if there was some misunderstanding. I had no idea I'd started a rumor with this thread.
