[Alignment Fun]My G party has a CE henchman!

They are bright enough not to get Throk anywhere close to town. In my hook for the module, I set it up so the village was much smaller and had been terrorized by the orcs. They demanded one villager a month be staked out for sacrifice, which (the party learned) the shaman was turning into undead guardians. The one time they fought back the orcs raided the town, murdered several children, and burned half the town to the ground. Right now they love the heroes, but no amount of 'no this one pledged itself to serve us' would keep them from killing the orc. It would also likely ruin their hero status.

I do like the idea of him threatening to kill anyone who doesn't convert to Pelor, and him picking fights for the party. Fleeing won't set him off, as even King Ulfe would seal the gates and strike from cover when facing a powerful foe - being clever and cautious are marks of a great warrior.

Gotta agree with jimpaladin here, if Orcs are as they say you are- this guy is gonna get torn apart, and indeed- I think the G party is committing a pretty evil act by letting one live...
I've never understood this reasoning. Wouldn't it be appropriate for the Good characters to try to convert the Evil, and hence change the alignment of evil characters? Why should destroying evil mean killing it? Changing it to good is also destroying the evil.

Anyway, I would interpret how a character would react based on his deity's dogma. If Pelor says don't suffer evil things to live then it would be appropriate for the priestess to kill Throk. But I don't know off the top of my head what Pelor's dogma is.

Might I suggest someone max out their bluff, intimidate, and diplomacy skills to keep this bozo in line?

Also, in the Book of Exalted Deeds, there are rules for converting pretty much anybody the DM decides can be converted, including irredeemable villains like devils and demons.

Since the orc only respects naked force, if the party evers starts to deal with him through other methods than fear and intimidation, he should immediately begin plotting the downfall of the party. Think uncivilized Klingons dealing with the Federation, or (if you're a Niven fan) un-domesticated Kzinti dealing with humans.

He should constantly be playing dominance games with the party. If the party doesn't scream & leap, and ever backs down, the orc should assume he now has primacy and they should be following him ...

Normally, yes. However, in this situation...

Keep in mind two things - Throk is completely loyal for now, and orcs are not redeemable. This isn't a grey area, they are spawn of demons and hate as men breathe.

Things arn't quite that easy.

Plotting? The kind of creature we talk about here doesn't sound smart enough for that sort of thing. He should just challenge the characters for leadership (and, in that case, "challenge" means "draw weapon, fly into rage, and charge")
