Alistra Karnom - Kinrisar Campaign

A note is waiting for you at the Whispering Willow. The innkeeper there greets you as you return and is happy to see you all healthy. "While you were away a messenger brought this by," handing you a folded piece of parchment. "I was asked to offer it to any one of you."

After taking the message you break the seal and find it to be from Alistra Karnom. It is short and simple:

I have done some interesting reading lately. You should as well.

You all make arrangements for a meeting with Alistra. She welcomes you to her villa. After you are all seated in her study her son joins you as well. Alistra begins, "Have you found out anything interesting since we last met?"

[Ezieer]

"I'm not quite sure... we have been busy of late... doing this and that"

Ezieer isn't sure how much he should say of their activities. He looks to Azeem to tell the stories...

Azeem Razuddi

"Ah, we have been occupied with a task from the Temple of Alyhyndro since just after our meeting with you last, mi'lady. As such we have not been able to find anything more out about the kobold. However, we have finished our work for the Victor and have recieved your message. Your scribes have deciphered the scroll we found at the kobolds camp I take it?" The bard says, purposfuly moving from the subject of the groups most recent adventure to the scroll quickly.

 

[Ezieer]

"Yeah, enough of what we've been doing. What did you find out?"

 

[DMEntropy]

Alistra follows the change in topic with ease. She hardly bats an eyelash before her reply. "The scrolls have indeed been translated. Their contents are somewhat alarming...on many levels." During her reply she stands and moves over to a small table. From a drawer in the front she pulls a sheaf of papers. She walks around the room passing them out to each of you. You all notice that she hesitates briefly before handing a copy to Agates.

"Take a few minutes to read this. I am curious about your response to what is written here."

Azeem Razuddi

The bard reads the pages carefully then responds to Alistra. "The kobold was doing some kind of comparison between humans and kobolds. Indeed it looks like he was looking for weaknesses for attack. I don't like that information at all. Why was he collecting the information? Was it for the kobolds... or someone more dangerous? Then there is the matter of Bibbaya, we know there is someone in the town that had supplied them with information, and we know how the kobold would sneak in disguised as a gnome or halfling. We don't have any way of knowing whether the kobold is going to be there again, but we can assume the human is probably still there. It may be best to find him and see what he knows about the kobold."

Alistra looks around the room to see if anyone else has an observation they would like to share....

 

[Liac]

A loud but polite knock echoes through the hallways of the manor house, and a rich voice carries despite its softness. "I am told this is the home of Alistra Karnom. I am Liac Rhilinoeth - son of Buraduc Rhilinoeth- and have come to your mistress bearing ill news."

 

[DMEntropy]

Alistra looks up with a strange look upon her face after the knock. You hear a butler let someone in from the front of the house and they are shown back to the room you are speaking with Alistra in.

"Liac, it is good to see you again. How is your father?" Alistra greets the newcomer. "I am concerned to hear that you have ill news. We are just having a discussion about some disturbing things ourselves." Alistra introduces each of you to the new man who has entered.

Quietly, Alistra speaks to Liac, "Is this news that can be shared in a group, or should it wait?" She hands Liac a copy of the notes from Manoryx's scrolls. "You may be interested in this. It is from a kobold leader's notes. If you want, you can examine the original. Bindar has told me you are studying the language of these nasty creatures."
