The dagger is by far if not my favorite, then one of the more prevalent items I give my PCs. I've used it from anything as mundane as a spare weapon in a boot to a holy symbol for Corellon. I count kukri, punching dagger, and throwing knives as 'daggers' and you might as well count main gauche (from AU) in there too.
Daggers of returning are the lightest, most concealable reusable ranged weapon in the game, and while the damage may kinda suck, its a consistent thing (if you have decent dex/BAB). I can't imagine adventuring without a dagger backing up one of my characters somewhere. I had a half-orc monk with a dagger that could cast Cure Lt Wnds 1/day, I mean whatever the game the dagger is there. Even my elven arcanist that ended up eschewing all weapons shot magic missiles that looked 'dagger-like'.
So, am I just a weirdo or does everyone else find this to be one of the more useful items to buy in the phb?
