that all depends on how the DM presents them in an adventure. I once played an adventure where it was like the story "Hancel and Grettel" and when the player characters went into the old hags house, it was like an alernate world. think ravenloft mixed with candyland.

i have to say it was one of the most crazy and outlandish adventers my monk character ever went on and it stands out to this day in my head.
