A while ago, the Wizards website put out a fairly comprehensive golem Monster Mayham, including a list of golems from all the previous editions. I like the Ravenloft golems (known as the Created or in 3E, Dread Constructs) that are intelligent and self-aware and created not by magic but by the desperation and obssession of their creators, like Frankestein's monster from the book by Mary Shelly). There was a whole Van Ricten's guide to them, and there's a dread construct template in the Ravenloft 3E campaign setting.

I found another one. The 1st edition AD&D module I8: Ravager of Time includes a Slime Golem.
