[h=3]Pathfinder RPG News[/h]
The big news this weekend was Paizocon, Paizo's annual convention in Seattle. I've received tons of tidbits of info from the convention over the last couple of days, so here goes trying to organize it! (thanks to Kobold Press' Wolfgang Baur for the photos, and Borrowmir, Thake, and Sven for the scoops!) [HI][threadcm]http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?338304-PaizoCon-News[/threadcm][/HI]
  • Upcoming hardcover books: Paizo announced the Strategy Guide and Inner Sea Gods for 2014:
    • Strategy Guide -- 160 pages, April 2014, $29.99. "This 160-page strategy guide gives you invaluable advice on how to make a character, from the formation of a concept to selecting the best options to make your character come to life."
    • Inner Sea Gods -- 320 pages, March 2014, $39.99. "This 320-page hardcover sourcebook details the chief gods and goddesses of Golarion; hundreds of extraordinary demigods; the histories, dogmas, rituals, and secrets of faiths both righteous and profane; and much, much more."
  • The next adventure path after August's Wrath of the Righteous is The Mummy's Mask and will be set in Osirion. "Flying pyramids and alien invaders. Stargates?" [HI][threadcm]http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?338332-Mummy-s-Mask-quot-Flying-pyramids-and-alien-invaders-Stargates-quot[/threadcm][/HI]
  • October's Bestiary 4 will, according to Wolfgang Baur again, contain Kaiju, clockwork dragons, kitsune, almiraj, and Cthulhu. [HI][threadcm]http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?338331-Bestiary-4-including-a-CTHULHU![/threadcm][/HI]
  • He also reports that August's Mythic Adventures contains "Archmage, Champion, Guardian, Heirophant, Marshall, and Trickster. Plus mythic feats. Mythic meteor swarm average damage is 303 points. Mythic time stop for an hour/level. Mythic sleep puts a town to sleep."
  • Bastards of Golarion (January 2014, $12.99) deals with mixed-blood races.
  • There's a new GM Screen released. It has an alternate cover.
  • The Virtual Tabletop (called "Paizo Game Space")which Paizo announced a year ago is now available as a beta to those who attended Paizocon last year or this year. You also need a paizo.com account to use it. [HI][threadcm]http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?338330-Paizo-Gamespace-(VTT)-Goes-Beta[/threadcm][/HI]
  • A new Pathfinder Miniatures line in October will be called Legends of Golarion, and includes a gargantuan green dragon.
  • There was a Pathfinder Society seminar on Saturday morning. Lots of info. Paizo is switching to new introductory scenarios, starting with The Confirmation in November. Also, the wealth system has been adjusted (from this thread on the official site):
    • The Wealth Discussion Came to an end!!: This morning, Master Compton, shared with us the final plans concerning the upcoming plans to change the "wealth by level" curve you get when playing up.. Although it will be best to wait until the final wording in the 5.0 guide, it's going to work like this:

      1) If you are a lowbie playing up.. You will recieve a "Out Of Subtier" Gold bonus. It's not going to be the same as playing up for the big tier payout, but if you are the only one playing out of tier, it's a way to compensate you without getting too "grossly" as Master Compton stated paid out in gold. And it's the same if you are required to play down. It will allow those who do not want to apply credits to another character the option to play down and not get screwed either on a lower payout.
      2) If you are a party that is inbetween tiers.. There will be a new way to play in difficulty without getting hit with the universal "Let's play up!" fight. There will be adjustments that will be made in order to help players not feel like it is a cakewalk without the pressure of being forced to play up. Although it is best to wait until the guide comes out, it is going to be an excellent bridge for those who hate to play up, and/or fear that there will be nothing but a cake walk for those stronger "hard mode" players.
  • Kobold Press has a cool photo album of the event.
  • A few bits and pieces on Reddit; these are quotes:
    • The "Pathfinder Adventure Path" seminar was excellent. They announced that the AP after Wrath of the Righteous would named The Mummy's Mask and be centered on Osirion and the ancient Egyptian themes. They talked about how there's been a great response to Reign of Winter, especially "Rasputin Must Die!" and how they break the norms with the AP and travel to WWI era Earth, and that even though it was a risk, they're likely to keep taking those risks in future APs in terms of breaking the norms.
    • I grabbed the Pathfinder Comics hardcover, but they're selling the Paizo-exclusive blue GM screen here with all the APG, UM, and UC iconic characters on the front. The inside of the new GM screen is the exact same, but it is neat that it's "reskinned".The con exclusive mini is a white-skinned goblin, named "Konkrud", carrying a dogslicer. The 'whites' of his eyes are black, and his pupils are red.

[h=3]Season of Sexism #4: Sexist by Design[/h]
In this episode of our Season of Sexism, we asked people at UK Games Expo how they felt historical settings which exhibited such traits (and others, including racism and slavery) should address them. Should those settings be altered to modern sensitivities (bearing in mind that the players are modern), or should a particular approach be adopted?

I think differences by sex and race can be handled by an RPG, but not up front with the characters. I think all the characters should start off with an even footing, in terms of adjustments for Strength, Intelligence, etc.

Where I think it belongs is in the background/fluff/flavor text in the gaming world - i.e., in the Kingdom of ABC, dwarves are jailed on sight, and either forcibly exiled or put in hard labor camps. This was due to a long-running dispute with the nearby dwarf Kingdom of XYZ. In XYZ, only human merchants from other kingdoms are allowed to enter, and each of those humans must wear a special colored sash to designate where they are from. Any humans from ABC are executed if found within the borders of XYZ.
