D&D 5E Almost at the end of Vecna: Eve of Ruin

I really enjoyed Empire of The Ghouls. Thoroughly good, except it dragged right at the end and the players had had enough before it concluded. Too much underdark.

My suggestion. If someone gets downed by a ghoul, then all ghouls break off from what they are doing and eat the body (except for intelligent ghouls). After the first character death the party really kept a fear of ghouls the whole way through.

I've already stated that I'm going to expand each chapter simply to give each one more of a "feel" of the settings involved and to make them a bit more epic. Most of the chapters seem... fine, they just need a bit more setting razzmatazz. I do have to agree with Chapter 8 - going to the Hells, only to spend most of the time there in a casino is definitely anticlimactic. I'll probably just add a bit of a devil and dragon infested dungeon below it to get to the final Rod piece make it more interesting. As for the nothingburger that is Chapter 9, I'm going to have my group rescue Elturel from Avernus as in the climax of Descent to Avernus before returning to Sigil to give it some actual heft.

Currently running it, and the players seem to be having a good time. The Chapter 2 Underdark was pretty weak IMO, but I've also been boosting the power level of everything to make it more challenging. One interesting note is that my players have a far better name for the creature at the end of Chapter 3: the Heartwyrm...

We've finished the penultimate session! Chapter 10 is - by a fair way - the best chapter in the work, and my players enjoyed it thoroughly.

They've now destroyed two unrealities (which are very slight, as adventure material goes). One more, then Vecna.

Cheers,
Merric

Interesting, I feel Miska's 5e design is a vast improvement to the old design and one of the best things that came out of that book. Everyone has different tastes.
I just can't see that miniature evoking anything but laughter. I think the spider dragon at the end of chapter 2 is almost as bad, so I've replaced that, as well.

I don't know what the miniature looks like, but I really like the images from the book. It is way better than this (IMO):
