*Almost* had the new PHB, darnit

BVB

First Post
I was pickled tink to discover my local Borders & Noble bookstore had recieved a partial(?) shipment of D&D v3.5 game books and had already put a couple of PHBs on the shelf for me (no DMGs yet). So I snapped one up and dashed to the counter, wrote out my check and headed home to enjoy some very special Quiet Time with my new purchase.

I had been perusing it for not quite an hour when the phone rang. A bookstore flunky explained that the store wasn't supposed to make the books available until the 18th of this month, and asked that I please bring it back for a refund. (He got my phone number from the check.)

Yeah, they gave me a 10-percent-off coupon for my next visit. But, darn it! I was soooo close! Now I've got to wait another two weeks to finish reading about the changes in the bard class.

Just wanted to share some of my frustration with you guys. Thanks for listening.

Caller ID is for screening in just such circumstances... :p

Of course, it is only polite to return that call...even it it would have taken two weeks... ;)

I wouldn't have without some serious recompense.

A book store calling me to return a book I bought from them because it was their mistake and not offering the book to me free when it came out if I brought it back? Talk about some bad customer service.

Borders or Barnes & Nobel? My sister works at a Borders... mabye she could pull some strings for this.

[Not that I should really be too hopefull. She didn't get her copy of Harry Potter any earlier than anyone else. Though I doubt she'll be worrking midnight - 3AM on the street date for the new PH]

PS: No way in Baator I'd have brought it back, either. ;)
