*Almost* had the new PHB, darnit

Had this happened to me...

"Hello? Take it back? I'm sorry, it's already been given away as a birthday gift. Sorry, goodbye."

::thinks to self::
Well, for my birthday, a few months from now, but not technically a lie.

You see what happens when you pay by check?

That's why I only pay in gold pieces. I walk kind of lopsided, because my wallet is way too heavy, but no returned books!

Ladies and Gentlemen... The next candidate for President of the United States of America... The most honest man on the planet... BVB!

Troll. Droll, but troll.

But, darn it! I was soooo close! Now I've got to wait another two weeks to finish reading about the changes in the bard class.

C'mon, how do you all keep getting suckered by 'ol BVB? The poster who brought you the penalty for cheating thread, followed by the dice bag worn on the belt thread, has returned with yet another plausible-enough-to-be-true troll.

I mean, he's got a point...it is kind of funny to see all the drooling over new books that are going to suck. But don't make it so easy for him, eh?

Well, even if this is a troll, I still find it a little sad that you folks all would be so willing to ignore the law and order. If this isn't a troll, you should be proud of what you did. Such an act would require great honor, and it warms my heart that, if nothing else, someone would at least consider bringing the book back to be reasonable enough to make a troll about it. ;)

How is it ignoring the law? He is not legally bound to return it, he is free to keep it, money changed hands, it is legally his book. It is not his responsibility to police the polocies of the bookstore.

Well, let's consider what alignment our PHB-possessing friend is. He can't be evil, as most of you folks are, because he was willing to give something of his own to help others. The bookstore might have gotten in trouble for selling the book early, and though the odds might have been slim, BVB was willing to give the book back to protect them. He obviously seems to be edging toward good here.

And he also isn't chaotic. The bookstore asked him to turn the book over because of a regulation or agreement the bookstore was under said that they shouldn't sell the book early. A chaotic person, even a chaotic good one, would probably consider such a rule silly, as most of you folks are claiming. He'd keep the book, because yes, he did pay for it, and it's the bookstore's problem if they messed up.

So BVB is obviously lawful good, willing to sacrifice for the good of the store, and because he doesn't want to disrupt the proper order of things. Sure, there's probably not a law that says BVB would get in trouble, but the bookstore might be liable, and he didn't want to risk that. I commend him.
