Almost six months, still no word

So, I wrote two articles for Dungeon after submitting queries, getting them approved, etc. They were due to the editor (if I recall correctly) on December 5th, 2004. I haven't heard a word about them from Dungeon, or even gotten an acknowledgement that they've been recieved. Is this normal? Should I start pestering?

What do the guidelines say? When I submitted a query a few years ago, I inquired about the delay after about three months. Sure enough, they'd had an e-mail server event and didn't receive my query. Not sure how long it's supposed to take after they're actually approved, but I think Erik is pretty forgiving and in touch with the fanbase, so I don't think he'll spank you after six months of waiting.

Yes, pester, but in a polite way. Ask for an update. They're juggling a million things and a gentle reminder might help them and you.

Of course - politeness is always key. No reason to be rude. I'll shoot you guys another e-mail sometime this afternoon.

I just sent the gentle reminder - at this point, I'd be happy to know even if they'd just been rejected! At least I'd know!

As a general rule... if you haven't heard back from us about a proposal or a manuscript you sent to Dragon or Dungeon, just send us an email asking us for an update. As Eric says earlier, we are indeed juggling a million things at once (note: don't juggle chainsaws and puppies at the same time... it gets complicated real quick), and a reminder email is often just the thing we need to get back on track on a manuscript or proposal that's gone astray or has been buried by other things.

As another general rule, we try to be faster about replying to manuscripts we've asked for than we do about replying to adventure proposals, so if you haven't heard back about a manuscript you should definately poke us with an email.
