Alright WotC, fess up...who came up with "Emerald Frost"?

I don't get the umbrage over the name. *shrug* A big ol' non-factor to me. :heh:
Well, for me, it's the whole cold+acid theme. Huh? I just don't see these two together...it's very forced...and the name reflects that.

Now, I do like the idea of an ice mage and an acid mage, but not so much an ice-&-acid mage.

Although, someone in the thread about the wizard article had a cool idea about a spell that shoots an icicle of frozen acid. That's pretty cool, but not enough to justify the tradition.

With this and the Warlord class, I think someone on the design team read a lot of DC Comic's sword and sorcery books. I'm half expecting that sorcerers will be divided into twelve houses that use a particular gem stone as a spell focus. ;)

Emerald Frost

1 shot vodka
1 shot lime juice

Serve in a chilled glass. Ideal when combined with 4th Edition planning meetings.

EDIT: Damn, I'm out of lime juice.

well we don't know if its acid. But it could be like a searing burning acid that creeps up the body like tiny frost particles.

Or it could be referring to emerald as a structure and frost as an element. Although crystal frost sounds ALOT better if this is the case.

(hat tip to Kunimatyu)

Emerald Frost
3 mint leaves
1 T. sugar
juice of 1/2 lime
ice
2 oz. light rum
club soda

Muddle the mint leaves, lime juice, and sugar together in the bottom of a shaker. Add the rum and ice, and shake well. Pour into a collins glass and fill with club soda. Garnish with a lime slice, and serve.

In the 3.5E rules, this was called "The Mojito."

Everyone keeps calling the proper names in the article "cheesy", but seriously, what would examples of non-cheesy fantasy monikers be?

(Assume Latin was never a root language for the fantasy world in question.)
Actually, I think "Iron Sigil" and "Serpent Eye" are pretty cool. The others are varying degrees of alright. But "Emerald Frost" is just... dumb.

The cold/acid combination doesn't bother me at all. It makes me think Emerald Frost will be where the necromantic spells are found.
