Alter Self - fight with 4 weapons?

Since a Fey'Ri can use Alter Self to add up to 2 limbs, as stated in the spell, they can add 2 arms? Can they fight with weapons in these arms? Since these arms are on all the time, could they take Multidexterity and Multiattack?

If you want to get technical...

alter self can add two limbs...but it can also change existing limbs...like those wings. Six arms, anyone?

Hmm. An easy (and cheesy) way to be able to wear a shield or two. Get one with a low enhancement bonus with a bunch of resistances and bonuses, and another with a high enhancement bonus.

Just imagine the stares though. Four arms in semi-normal positions... two arms on the back.

I hate to say this but I would be inclined to allow it and I would allow anyone who spends a considerable amount of time in an altered form with multiple limbs to take the multi-attack, multi-dexterity etc. feats. If the limb had claws I would not allow you to attack with them (in my mind thats an 'Attack Form' as mentioned in the spell). I so hope I can find something to disallow this without resorting to a simple 'No'.

Could someone with a tail use to to trip with?

Personally I'm in the "you shouldn't be able to use bonuses from temporary sources to meet prerequisites for permanent things like Feats" group, so no taking Multiattack in my campaign.

In some ways, alter self is only a little better than change self, so maybe the arms are too weak to fight effectively

Alter Self is completely different than Change Self. One's a transmutation, the other's an illusion. Alter Self lets you add all sorts of "accessories" to your body, AND lets you look like someone else, AND isn't subject to a Will disbelief. IMO it's the best 2nd-level spell by a good margin, so the fact that there's a race that casts it at will worries me a bit.
