Am I giving them enough treasure?

First Post
The groom in my Orc Wedding went over to visit the Fey Sorceress now that they have moved her tree next to the tavern. He wanted advice on the wedding (hiding places, escape routes, Where he can get Valium...). She misunderstood and thought he was asking for decorating and logistical advice, so the next thing he knows she had accepted the position of Wedding planner , grapped some 150,000 year old Bride magazines from her end table, and left him there on the couch while she went to ask Ugala what she thought of Teal Taffeta for the bridesmaids...So he tries to turn on the crystal ball

Use Magic Device check, Nat 1.

So he somehow managed to change the channel of the plane that they are on, so now everyone within 40 ft of the tree are in a Jungle somewhere. The Fey can fix it, but she needs some gemstones, and Ugala has decided on pineapple frosting for the cake anyway so they can look for those too while they are at it. The dwarf is pissed that the humidity is fizzing his beard, but wants to get ingediants for rum. So off they go into the jungle leaving the girls to plan the wedding.

Fast forward>>>
Return of the Jedi trap scene with Gripplies (frog people) instead of Ewoks + Kurai darts + the "Blow up the whole forest around us" scene from Predator (Flame strikes and electric substitution fireballs)

FF>>
Everyone realizes that noone here is evil, so the frogs start worshiping the Elf with the leopard frog skin pattern. The dwarf is pacified with some coconut mead (We put the honey in the coconut and mix it all up, we put the honey in the coconut and shake it all up...). The chief tells that it is the destiny frog savior (the Elf/frog) and his servants (The Dwarf is having fun with that one) to save the village from the ancient enemy that even now is escaping from under the mountain in which they were imprisoned (Volcano rumbles on cue). They were originally forest lizards that liked shiny rocks, but they became greedy and fought each other and in their anger they became big and terrible until the shamans of many villages bound them in the mountain. There are three of them...

Hero's Feast for breakfast, the shaman gives them some healing fruit and gives each biped a magic item to help them, with no explanation as to use. (we're gonna have to have movie night soon. none of the players recognized the items from "The Ewok Adventure" or the Acorns from "Willow".)

So they fought and killed 2 of the dragons, and we called it a night. Dragon 3 and treasure is next session.

IF YOU ARE IN THIS GAME STOP READING!!!!!!!!

Which brings me to my question.

I got out the dmg, and rolled out the treasure.

1 cr 6 fire drake ported from 2 ed and built onto a wyvern for everything except the breath weapon. Standard Treasure amount.

2 CR 8 Dragons, Triple Standard.

My rolls sucked! The Drake had more treasure than the dragons! I kept rolling low enough for "No item".

So I tired again with the Everquest D20 Dmg. Still sucked!

So I started looking around online for a random treasure generator that I liked. Some just produced random stuff. Some just produced weird stuff. Some could be set by encounter level. There are some nice generators out there and I tried about a dozen of them.....

So played around a bit, recording what was generated, tweaking it a bit to fit treasure from frog people. I had already decided that there would be few coins, so I recorded the gp value of the generated coins and then started rolling up items using the 3.5 dmg, EQ D20, and Diablo D20 asking the dice when we where done with each item (even yes, odd no. No? Should we change books?) until we had used up the money. Then I organized and cleaned up the list a bit. It is still cut and paste though, so the differing formating is from different generators.

So for saving the villiage (presuming they do): Quest Reward
Defeating the 3 dragons (presuming they do): 1 Cr 6 Standard
2 Cr 8 Triple
Defeating the net trap: (Cr ?)
Defeating the frog people: (30 CR 1/2)
Returning with the pineapples and needed gems (presuming they do): Quest Reward

Is the list below enough? If you killed 3 dragons in a row for some frog guys and brought home the pineapple, would you feel satisfied?

RING OF VAPORS: The origin of these ten unique rings is greatly disputed, but
most mages agree that a powerful figure among the air elementals had a hand in
its creation. The ring appears as a small circlet of misty vapors that
continually shift and change; the ring, however, is solid. Any character
wearing the ring gains the following abilities:
At will Fly (12")
Once per day Stinking cloud
Once per day Obscurement
Thrice per week Wind walk
Thrice per week Wind wall
Twice per week Aerial servant
Once per week Cloudkill
Once per month Summon aid from Elemental Plane of Air*
*Wearer's alignment good--djinni; wearer's alignment neutral--8HD air
elemental; and wearer's alignment evil--mihstu.
All spell effects are at 16th level of ability. Summoned monsters will remain
with the summoner for only 4-16 rounds, after which they will depart. Summoned
monsters will not attack the monster unless attacked first, and they act in a
friendly and helpful manner during the time they are present. The wearer also
receives a penalty on saving throws verses fire, agains which he saves at -2,
and takes +1 damage per die. It is possible that the maker of these few rings
is still hunting for them.

GM ONLY DETACH____________________________________________________________

AMULET OF E'NEZBIT: [S5] This trap is a 1" crystal jar on a gold chain to be
worn as an amulet and gives off continual light. This is a jar of endless
honey. When the crystal stopper is removed and inverted, it will drip
excellent honey at the rate of 1d8 quarts per hour (approximately 1d4 oz. per
minute). When worn as an amulet it cured the wearer's worst fault (party must
vote on which fault is worst)--sending him to such excess in the opposite
direction that all will want him back as he was. (i.e., a drunkard becomes a
prohibitionist, etc.) The only way to remove the amulet is for all who voted
on the worst fault to lift it at once--or by a wish or a remove blessing cast
by someone twice the level of the wearer.

Aren't treasure genarators fun!?!?!

Should I assign a CR and award XP for sorting though the treasure pile?

Well, at least they will have enough party favors for the wedding.

I CAN'T BELIEVE I READ THE WHOLE THING

Scroll of speak with Mucus spirit? That would make it worth it for me, right there.

Anyway, I dunno, instead of relying on a treasure generator, why not tailor the treasure to the players? Although I'd keep the frog stuff and the glass pineapple tree.

I'd give up with the treasure generator and give them stuff you want them to have.

I use DMGenie and find that random treasure produces long lists of gems and the odd item, soI tailor most hoards I create.

I tend not to give treasure based on what the players want. If they want it they can buy/make it. I give out the stuff the monster/BBEG had.

I perfer more of a "Gumpian" apprach: "Dragon Hoards are like a box of chocolates...."

If they want something I make them go look for it. The Dwarf wants a vorpal +5 great ax, the sphinx told them where to find one. In the hord of an adult White dragon near the frost giant's jarl's fortress and the ice goblin villiage.....They'll go get it sooner or later.

If I want them to have something, I throw an obtional side quest at them and make them earn it somehow. The dwarf tank is lagging behind in level and hit points because the casters got in a few extra sessions. So I had him find an old temple with glyphs describing a ritual where a warrior seeks aid from the gods and is tested.....The test ended up being a TPK, but it was in their heads and they handled it well (The bronze serpent didn't kill them, the wall of ice the dwarf cast did) so they passed. The dwarf got a 2ed mysterian familar to help him. So now the Man's Man dwarf has a baby in a toga with curly hair, rainbow wings, and a pastel blue feathery tail floating around him. It gives him fast healing 1 as long as it is within 10 ft. So now he can tank for the casters and recover between encounters.

Right now the only regular in the group that doesn't have a familar, animal companion, or talking sword is the flying elf warmage. We're taking bets if he will survive long enough to get one too. +4 level adjustment on a flying elf (FR). He is elc 5 with 6 hp, is hanging out with levels 6-10, and is in fights with cr 8s. Hopefully he will survive the next dragon and get one of the invisiblity items in the hoard.

The wooden weapons came from a page that had a random item description generator.

Canadian Dagger:
with a pommel that has a 4 Azurite in a Cushion cut set around a Iron base, and a grip made of Blue Steal with a hilt made of Gold, the blade is made of Maple and embossed with glyphs of carabou and skiers.

Obviously, the formula is
Dagger: pommel that has a (gem) in a (random cut) set around a (material) base, and a grip made of (material) with a hilt made of (material), the blade is made of (material) and (random decoration).

In this case, they didn't set the program to exclude wood types as possible blade materials. I ended up with a lot of swords with wood or bone blades.
When I saw a dagger with a Maple blade, I couldn't resist calling it Canadian and adding the caribou and skiers instead of the undescribed glyphs.

Well, now I can throw creatures at them that are immune to metal. And I did foreshadow a vampire.....
