Am I the only one who is sick of endless stat blocks?

*sings* This is the statblock that never ends!
*smirks* Yeah well that can get annoying...but this is why I don't bother with some regional suppliments from WotC. So far the ones from S&SS don't get THAT detailed unless extremely necessary.

Hey Nightfall,

Remember I wanted to sell my Ghelspad and CC1 and CC2 ?

I went to my FLGS and swapped them for a $25.00 Matrixx Yo-Yo.

Best deal I made this year !

Just wanted to let you know in case you saw someone who was interested in my books.

This board, mailling lists, other forums all say the same thing. We want more content. We have enough feats and other crap to last a lifetime.

Why will they not listen?

Presumably because there are enough people out there who like this and keep buying them.

*Raises Hand*

Yep, those are people just like me.

We like what we're getting in these supplements, so we quietly purchase them.

Complaints tend to be voiciferous, praise seldom is.

There are as many people who would say that the PrCs are "the important stuff", and that the flavor text is useless fluff. Many people (myself included) pick up these books looking for useful "crunchy bits" I can adapt to my homebrew world. The flavor text is the part I find relatively useless.
You mean there are people who would buy a regional/geographic supplement for a specific campaign world looking for rules-related material, and then complain when they (obviously) don't find it?

Wow.

Do I really need to know a listing of the number of people that belong to each class and each level for every community? Couldn't they have used that space to provide additional information on the nature of the community - or perhaps added a few new ones?

Altho I found the information a bit sparse as well, I actually liked the listing of the classes, since it gives a useful picture of the towns inhabitants and takes up rather low space for that. :)

That's because you are reading too much into what I said. I merely pointed out that, from my perspective, the parts Jurgen Hubert wants to see reduced are the parts for which some people will pick up the book, and the parts he wants to see expanded are not as useful (or outright of no interest) to them.

When I said that I found the flavor text "relatively useless", I was not complaining about it. I understand that it is there, and I do not mind it being there. My point was that, if the balance shifted more toward the flavor text, fewer people would find it worth purchasing.

Even people who are running FR campaigns might find it less desirable. I, for one, dislike the feeling that the campaign world changes to reflect each new novel that is published. Gradually, as a campaign I ran moved away from the "official" events, I would find less and less useful in the flavor text, as it increasingly contradicted events in my campaign. The rules stuff, though, is usable either way (for the most part).

That being said, I am running an Uthgardt character in a PBeM game. I like the Silver Marches. There is material I can use for my character in the FR game, and there are good ideas I can adapt to my homebrew world. If the content mix changed, though, to favor the flavor text, I would be less able to do either, and thus less likely to buy it.
