Its not a humor!
I think being humorous is good. My PCs encountered a treant who they were trying to get information from. I literally took 3 minutes for the treant to finish a sentence. I thought it was hilarious, but the players sure looked annoyed, angry in fact. They were all giving me nastiest of looks. So, the treant asked them, "Whhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhyyyyyyyyyyyyy dooooooooooo yooooooooooou looooooooooooooook aaaaaaaaaaat meeeeeeeeeee thaaaaaaaaaaaat waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay?"
"Because you are a slow, idiot" a player replied.
To which the treant replied, "Aaarrrrrrrrrre yoooooooooooou saaaaaaaaaaayiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnng thaaaaaaaaaaat III aaaaaaaamm ssssoooommmmme sorrrrrrrrrt ooooooof aaaa treeeeeeeeetaarrrrrrrrd?"
Well, they just cracked up, they'd lost it. Now hardly a session goes by where they don't mention the treant in some fashion. This group has faced armies of undead, disease bearing ocrs, severe cases of mummy rot, violent elementals, unforgiving dwarves, powerful mage spells run amok, and a near fatal encounter with small creature that liquifies your inards and wears your skin and bones as armor.
After all that, what is the one encounter they keep bringing up?
There conversation with the treant.
Now just last week, they cleaned out an entire town filled with an army of 50+ skeletons and some very nasty undead things including a CR 10 undead cleric of Nerull (they were 4th level) all to rescue a baroness.
When they finally freed her (at 2 am real time), she spoke to them with the voice of Howard Cosell (sp?).
"Well war fans, that was quite an impressive display of physical prowess. In all my years as a common-dictator, I have never seen anything like this."
So, guess what one encounter my players brought up...
