o.k., there is always a difficulty giving advice without sounding condescending, but can i try?

the value drawings you are dpoing (chiaruscuro) would be strengthened by broadening the range of tones you use.

if 1 was wgite and 10 was black you are going from 3.5 to 7. try including some more numbers :)

a few 10's, and some 1's on highlight, and you can eliminate the lines and have a bolder image with more of a 3-d pop.

you are on the right course :)

Surprisingly enough, I love advice and being told where I need to improve. I guess accecpting things like that is rare for people my age. :)

Alrighty...as to your comments. Heh, I excpected that. My biggest problem is using that wide range of shading, and most all the comments I get are "shade more!". I've actually gotten a lot better...but I get afraid I may do something too dark. Anything else you see that I should look at more?

the only other immediate problem i see is that you use lines. lines AND shading rarely mix. using a broader value range would help that considerably :)

accepting outside commentary and criticism is rare at any age :p

you are on the right path, just do 10,000 more :)

Only 10,000? Whew I thought this was going to be in the millions. ;)

Just got a new sketchbook today since this one is now full...that's around sketchbook number 25 or so that I've filled with junk. Doing my best to put lots more shading into the Echo Base Trooper I'm working on...playing with some darker and somewhat lighter values...
